RE: Mt. Huangshan: The Yellow Mountains in the Clouds

You were lucky, it seems. Surprisingly few people there. I lived in Anhui for 2 years, but never went to Huangshan, mostly because I don't like to visit places overrun by tourists (& for what I know Mt. Huangshan usually is).
Nice pics.

There were actually places in the mountains that were packed with people, but just like you, we didn't like to go into the crowd. We mostly just stopped in areas where we could freely move and breathe.

I'm curious, what was it like living in Anhui? Huangshan City looked so laid back to me compared to Shanghai.

I lived in Hefei, the capital. Pretty backwards compared to mega-cities like Shanghai, & pretty boring overall. Street food in the city itself hard to find, but luckily there was quite something on offer near the university.
Not much to see for tourists, but living there was OK.

Essentially, a normal hinterland city in China. Can't say it was particularly laid back. Just as busy as other 2nd- or 3rd-tier cities.
