I bring you a new adventure, today we are going to travel to the region of (Maceira) north of Lisbon to do an "unofficial" trail that will take us to one of the most surprising caves in Portugal, also known scientifically as (Lapa da Rainha), this cave had already been used by both animals and man since the (Upper Pleistocene), before continuing I tell you that it is the most difficult cave I have done so far, the path is too complicated and only suitable for experienced people.👨🏻🏫🚩
Hola amigos! les traigo una nueva aventura, hoy vamos a viajar hacia la region de (Maceira) al norte de Lisboa para hacer un sendero "no oficial" que nos llevara a una de las cuevas mas sorprendentes de Portugal, tambien conocida cientificamente como: (Lapa da Rainha), esta cueva ya habia sido utilizada tanto por animales como por el hombre desde el (Pleistoceno Superior), antes de proseguir te digo que es la cueva mas dificil que hice hasta ahora, el camino es demasiado complicado y solo apto para personas con experiencia.🌄🌍

Here are the coordinates to get to the cave: (39.180867, -9.327581), this scientific article deals with the study of the set of caves in Maceira including the one we are going to visit today that the locals know as "sapateiro" but the correct name is "Lapa da Rainha", the easiest thing on this trail will be to cross that bridge hahaha! and I'm not lying! it's a 1.5km walk to get to the cross, but there are many curves and we have to climb rocks so those 1.5km are a nightmare! you cannot do this walk on a rainy day, it has to be when the ground is dry!👨🏻🏫🗺️🚙
Te dejo aqui las coordenadas para ir a la cueva: (39.180867, -9.327581), este articulo cientifico trata del estudio del conjunto de cuevas que hay en Maceira incluyendo a la que vamos a visitar hoy que los lugarenos le conocen como "sapateiro" pero el nombre correcto es "Lapa da Rainha", lo mas facil en este sendero sera atravesar ese puente jajaja! y no miento! es una caminata de 1.5km hasta llegar a la cruz, pero son muchas curvas y debemos trepar piedras por lo que esos 1.5km son toda una pesadilla! para nada puedes hacer esta caminata en dia de lluvia, tiene que ser cuando el terreno este seco!🌲⛺⛰️
As a reference point we must cross the bridge and go over the small stream, the river does not appear on the map so it is better to use the white house and the bridge as a starting point for the trail, if you have any disability you cannot do the trail because you have to climb! I remind you that it is my opinion that everyone knows their limits! Then we will see a small path between the bushes and there we will begin the walk!🌷🧭
Como punto de referencia debemos atravesar el puente y pasar por el pequeno riachuelo, no aparece el rio en el mapa asi que mejor usar la casa blanca y el puente como punto de partida hacia el sendero, si tienes alguna discapacidad no puedes hacer el sendero ya que debes trepar! te recuerdo que es mi opinion cada quien conoce sus limites! luego veremos un pequeno camino entre los arbustos y ahi comenzaremos la caminata!📸🧑🏻🦯➡️

The cave is located in a rock formation that could be classified as a hill since it should not exceed 100 meters in height. Within this formation more than four caves were created that are called the "Maceira archaeological cave formation", including: (Lapa da rainha, Lapa da rainha 2, gemeas caves, and cova do urso) this is really interesting because we can visit them all in one day since they are close to each other, but it will be superficial if you do not have the right equipment!📸🧭
La cueva queda en una formacion rocosas que podria decirse que la clasificaremos como colina ya que no debe sobrepasar los 100 metros de altura, dentro de esta formacion se crearon mas de cuatro cuevas que se denominan: "formacion de grutas arqueologicas de Maceira", destacando: (Lapa da rainha, Lapa da rainha 2, grutas gemeas, y cova do urso) esto es realmente interesante porque en un dia podemos visitarlas todas ya que estan proximas entre si, pero sera de forma superficial si no tienes el equipo adecuado!⛺⛰️

The cave was discovered in 1949 and since then research has begun. Previously these paths did not exist so it was quite a feat to reach the main entrance which originally consisted of small holes. The entrance we see today is the result of a collapse that exposed the final room. Of all the caves in Maceira, this was and still is the most studied and the most important.🌍🌲
La cueva fue descubierta en 1949 a partir de ese entonces se comenzo a investigar, anteriormente estos caminos no existian por lo que resultaba toda una hazana llegar hasta la entrada principal que originalmente eran pequenos agujeros, la entrada que vemos hoy en dia es resultado de un derrumbe que expuso la sala final. Del conjunto de cuevas de Maceira esta fue y aun es la mas estudiada de todas y la mas importante.📸🌄

Here's a crazy fact! The name of the cave is due to the fact that a person lived inside it, his name was (António Sapateiro) and at the end of 1879 the cave had not yet been studied scientifically. Nery Delgado was the first person to begin studies in the cave, but in 1949 the discovery was officially made, since it had already been mapped. Sapateiro's name will go down in history and will be a legacy for Maceira.👨🏻🏫😅
Aqui les va un dato super loco! el nombre de la cueva se debe a que una persona vivio dentro de ella, se llamo (António Sapateiro) esto en finales de 1879 aun no se estudiaba la cueva de manera cientifica, Nery Delgado fue la primera persona en comenzar estudios en la cueva pero en 1949 es que se da oficialmente el descubrimiento ya que estaba mapeada. El nombre de Sapateiro quedara en la historia y sera un legado para Maceira.😶😲

Here we can get an idea of how steep the climb and descent to the Sapateiro cave is. If it weren't for my hiking poles I don't think I would have dared to climb this area, and there is no other way to get there! From the Pleistocene to the Holocene, the "Lapa da Rainha" cave was always inhabited, and various objects were found that were used as religious and funerary artifacts, daily and decorative tools, as well as several bones of extinct animals that also inhabited the cave or served as food for prehistoric man.📸🧭
Aqui podemos tener una idea de lo empinado que es la subida y la bajada hacia la cueva de Sapateiro. Si no fuera por mis bastones de excursion creo que no me hubiera atrevido a subir por esta zona, y no hay otra forma de llegar alla! acompanando el Pleistoceno hasta el Holoceno la cueva "lapa da rainha" siempre fue habitada, se encontraron varios objetos que eran usados como artefactos religiosos, funebres, herramientas diarias y decorativas, ademas de varios huesos de animales ya extintos que tambien habitaron la cueva o sirvieron de alimento para el hombre prehistorico.👨🏻🏫🌲

For me, it is one of the most beautiful caves I have visited so far. The entrance is large, well lit and deep, allowing us to use a lamp to explore and imagine how prehistoric man lived inside!🌲🌷

These arts created with stone inside the cave give us an idea that people were possibly buried here as well. In reality, it depended on which culture we are studying. The first sapiens to arrive in Portugal buried themselves in caves and then made dolmens.🌍🌲

Incredible, this is an adventure for me. The route to the cave is intriguing. You can see from miles away, that you have to make an effort to get there. I was surprised that it has so many history facts behind it.
