Hello friends, in this post we are going to visit a town called "Vila Nova de Cerveira" where we can also visit the castle, a fortification that dates back to the 12th century, the time of the Portuguese conquests of the Moors, however hundreds of years later when Spain was formed as a nation through various political and military conflicts both the city and the castle formed an important defensive line to protect the mouth of the Mino River, in this post we are going to take a walk through the historic center of the village and enter the castle to see more details!β°οΈππΈ
Hola amigos, en este post vamos a visitar una ciudad llamada "Vila Nova de Cerveira" donde a su vez podremos visitar el castillo, una fortificacion que data del siglo XII epoca de las conquistas Portuguesas a los Moros, sin embargo cientos de anos despues al formarse espana como nacion mediante diversos conflictos politicos y belicos tanto la ciudad como el castillo formaron una importante linea defensiva para proteger la desembocadura del Rio Mino, en este post vamos a dar una caminata por el casco historico de la aldea y entraremos al castillo para ver mas detalles!π°π¨π»βπ«π

Vila Nova de Cerveira is actually a parish, and in turn constituted as the main village that bears the same name, I want to show you in this post that before arriving at the village I toured the surrounding mountains and its viewpoints, you can take several days to see many beautiful things, however one of the most outstanding activities of the parish is to take some trails in the mountains, this entire area is a mountain range which has the Mino River as an attractive point.πΈπβ°οΈ
Vila Nova de Cerveira en realidad es una parroquia, y a su vez constituida como la aldea principal que lleva el mismo nombre, quiero mostrarte en este post que antes de llegar a la villa recorri las montanas alrededor y sus miradores, puedes demorar varios dias para conocer muchas cosas bonitas, sin embargo una de las actividades mas resaltantes de la parroquia es realizar algunos senderos en la montana, toda esta area es una sierra la cual tiene como punto atractivo el rio Minoπ¦π²π

Ya podemos ver varios anuncios que nos indican que estamos cerca de la villa, y comenzamos a ver imagenes y estatuas de venados por todos lados, y es que el simbolo de "Vila Nova de Cerveira" se trata de un venado ya que muchos anos atras estos animales eran comun en las montanas.π²π¦
Archaeologists have not yet come to a conclusion as to exactly when Vila Nova de Cerveira was first inhabited. Thanks to the Mino River, it was very easy for ancient civilizations such as the Lusitanians and Phoenicians to inhabit this area up to the mountains in prehistoric times, towards the Stone and Bronze Ages, more than 4,000 years ago. It is not possible to see so much history in the town, but upon arrival we were able to notice the Gothic architecture that was prominent between the 12th and 15th centuries. In fact, we see some houses so old that it seems like we are walking through a medieval village.π¨π»βπ«π
Los arqueologos no han llegado a la conclusion de en que era exacta "Vila Nova de Cerveira" fue habitada por primera vez, y es que gracias al rio Mino fue muy facil que antiguas civilizaciones como Lusitanos o Fenicios habitaran esta area hasta las montanas en la prehistoria hacia la edad de piedra y bronce hace mas de 4mil anos, tanta historia no es posible verla en la villa pero al llegar conseguimos notar esa arquitectura gotica que era destacada entre los siglos XII y XV, en realidad vemos algunas casas tan antiguas que parece que caminamos por una aldea medieval.π°π©π

It was when, in 1096, entering the era of the reconquests, the Portuguese managed to displace the Moors between the 10th and 11th centuries, and it was there that "Vila Nova de Cerveira" was a warlike border town to prevent possible Arab invasions.πΊοΈπ©
Cuando llegamos al siglo I y II despues de Cristo la Romanizacion alcanzo toda esta area inclusive pasando el rio hasta espana, fue cuando la aldea comenzo a crecer y mejorar su arquitectura, pero solo se expandio de gran manera cuando llegaron los Arabes a invadir toda la ciudad y fue cuando en el 1096 entrando a la era de las reconquistas los Portugueses consiguen desplazar los Moros entre X y XI y fue alli que "Vila Nova de Cerveira" era una ciudad fronteriza belica para evitar posibles invasiones Arabes.πΈπ
The main focus of the town is the Castle and literally the entire historic centre is surrounding the castle so you can see it from all parts of the village. Clearly the best time to visit "Vila Nova de Cerveira" is in December or January when it is decorated for Christmas, but... Something negative I must add is that as the town is on the border with Spain thousands of them come here collapsing absolutely everything! to the point of being impossible to eat, that's right... We couldn't have lunch because all the restaurants were full and there were lines of people waiting for a table! With a baby we couldn't wait for a long time which forced us to eat outside!π©πΈ
El foco principal de la ciudad es el Castillo y literalmente el Casco central historico esta rodeando el castillo por eso es posible verlo en todas las partes de la aldea, claramente la mejor epoca para visitar "Vila Nova de Cerveira" es en diciembre o enero cuando esta decorado Natal, pero... Algo negativo que debo anadir es que como la ciudad es fronteriza con Espana miles de ellos vienen aqui colapsando absolutamente todo! hasta el punto de ser imposible comer, asi es... No pudimos almorzar porque todos los restaurantes estaban llenos y habian filas de personas a espera por una mesa! nosotros con una bebe no teniamos condiciones para esperar mucho tiempo lo que nos obligo a comer en las afueras!ππ
A must-see is the church of S.Cipriano, which dates back to the 16th century and is unique in its style. It was restored in the 18th century and became a Baroque and neoclassical architecture.π°
Una visita obligatoria es la iglesia S.Cipriano la cual data del siglo XVI, unica en su estilo, fue restaurada en el siglo XVIII y paso a convertirse en una arquitectura Barroco y neoclasica.ποΈ

The entrance to the castle is one of my favourites so far, it is well decorated, I think it is only barely surpassed by the main gate of the Obidos castle, you do not have to pay an entrance fee to visit the castle and on the contrary it is open, I recommend you check the opening hours on Gmaps, 1974 was an important and historic date for the castle which was decorated as a property of public interest.π¨π»βπ«πΈ
La entrada del castillo es una de mis favoritas hasta ahora, esta bien decorada, creo que apenas siendo superada por la puerta principal del castillo de Obidos, no tienes que pagar una entrada para visitar el castillo y por el contrario esta abierto, el horario te recomiendo verlo en Gmaps, 1974 fue una fecha importante e historica para el castillo el cual fue condecorado como bien de interes publico.π°π¨π»βπ«
