Memories from the Black Sea/Ordu —Karadeniz/Ordu’dan Hatıralar 🌲

Hello everyone, I hope you are well and everything is going smoothly. Today, I will take you back to the Black Sea, to Ordu. I shared a few posts from Ordu over the past few weeks. While cleaning up the photos in my gallery, I came across these photos and honestly didn't want to delete them.

Herkese merhaba, umarım iyisinizdir ve her şey yolundadır. Bugün sizleri yine Karadeniz’e, Orduya götüreceğim. Geçtiğimiz haftalarda Ordu’dan bir kaç gönderi paylaşmıştım. Galerimdeki fotoğrafları temizlerken bu fotoğraflarla karşılaştım ve açıkçası silmek istemedim.

For those unfamiliar with the Black Sea region, it primarily brings to mind greenery and nature. Since rainfall is higher than in other regions, you can encounter different types of trees and greenery everywhere you go. While it may seem ordinary and normal to the locals who have lived there for years, it is fascinating to people like me who live in the less rainy Central Anatolia region.

Bilmeyenler için Karadeniz deyince akıllara öncelikle yeşillik, doğa gelir. Yağış diğer bölgelere göre daha fazla olduğu için adım attığınız her yerde farklı türde ağaçlarla, yeşillikle karşılaşabilirsiniz. Bölge insanı yıllardır orada yaşadığı için onlara sıradan, normal bir durum gibi gelse de benim gibi yağışın az olduğu iç Anadolu bölgesinde yaşayan insanlar için ilgi çekici gelmektedir.

I don't remember where I took the other photos, but I took these three in my father-in-law's garden. It was the last weeks of the hazelnut season. People had gathered the hazelnuts and moved on to the harvesting process.
The name of the farming tool you see in the photo is “Patpat.” In the Black Sea region, they call it “Gırgır.” I'm sure it has different names in different places. 😅
Although it looks easy to use, unfortunately, it's not as easy as it seems. I used it when going back and forth to the garden, and it tired me out quite a bit.

Diğer fotoğrafları nerede çektiğimi hatırlamıyorum ancak bu üç fotoğrafı kayınbabamın bahçesinde çekmiştim. Fındık sezonunun son haftalarıydı. İnsanlar fındıkları toplamış hasad etme sürecine geçmişlerdi.
Fotoğrafta gördüğünüz tarım aletinin ismi “Patpat.”Karadeniz’de ise “Gırgır” diye tabir ediyorlar. Eminim farklı yerlerde de değişik isimleri vardır. 😅
Kullanımı kolay gibi görünsede maalesef göründüğü gibi değil. Bahçeye gidip gelirken ben kullanmıştım ve beni bayağı yormuştu.

One of the things that makes the Black Sea special is its clean air. Living in Istanbul, we honestly have to search high and low for clean air due to the city's crowdedness and heavy traffic.
Unfortunately, noise and commotion are never absent. Considering these circumstances, I feel more at peace when I go to the Black Sea. Of course, there are more advantages to living in Istanbul. However, I think you understand the point I want to make.

Karadeniz’i özel yapan etkenlerden birisi de temiz havasıdır. İstanbul’da yaşadığım için şehrin kalabalık olmasından ve trafiğin çok fazla olmasından kaynaklı olarak temiz havayı açıkçası mum ile arıyoruz.
Ses, gürültü hiçbir zaman maalesef eksik olmuyor. Bu durumları göz önüne aldığımda Karadeniz’e gidince kendimi daha huzurlu hissediyorum. Elbette İstanbul’un da yaşamanın avantajlı olduğu durumlar daha fazla. Ancak değinmek istediğim noktayı anladığınızı düşünüyorum.

The photos were taken on September 4-5. The beginning of September can be considered the end of summer. However, looking at the photos, it feels as if they were taken in winter. The reason for this is the overcast weather and the fact that the higher elevations are usually rainy. Even if you go in the middle of July, you are very likely to encounter the same scenery. If I recall correctly, I was wearing a sweater when I went out those days.

Fotoğrafları çektiğim tarihler 4-5 Eylül. Eylül ayının başlangıcı yaz mevsiminin sonu sayılabilir. Ancak fotoğraflara baktığımızda sanki kış ayında çekilmiş gibi hissettiriyor. Bunun nedeni ise havanın kapalı olması ve yüksek kesimlerin genellikle yağışlı olması. Temmuz ayının ortasında da gitseniz aynı manzara ile karşılaşma ihtimaliniz çok yüksek. Yanlış hatırlamıyorsam o günlerde hırka ile dışarı çıkıyordum.

That's all I wanted to say. Next summer, I'm thinking of going back during hazelnut season.
I can't wait to see the places I haven't been to yet.
