This is most likely going to be my last post about that beautiful country of South Africa. We really enjoyed our 3 months stay there and absolutely fell in love with it. I will end this series of posts with an absolute hidden gem we´ve found.
We drove by this beach many times as it is located directly at the main road that connects cape town with Hout Bay a bit further south. Many times we´ve seen this absolutely beautiful beach from above, out of our car but we never stopped. Near the end of our stay we finally made it to visit Oudekraal Beach that is part of the Table Mountain Nationalpark.
Since it is part of the Nationalpark you will have to pay an entry to get down to the beach but 30 Rand did not seem too much to enjoy that great place. Furthermore it keeps away the big tourist masses which makes it even mire attractive. When we were there it was too cold to swim anyway but still worth the visit.
It is simply the perfect spot for a hot weekend day. Its a very small beach that is sheltered by big boulders that make it a nice swimming location. Furthermore it offers many Braai Areas that is the south african barbecue and some grassy spots for those who don´t like the sand ;)
If laying on the beach, cooking braa and climbing on the big boulders isn´t enough action for you I recommend to bring your snorkel gear as this is the perfect spot for it. Lots of sea life like soft corals, sea sponges, sea fans and the famous sea squirts. You can even see the wreck of the Huis te Crayenstein which ran aground on the rocks at Oudekraal in 1698 but you need to dive further out to find it.
For me it was enough to climb on the boulders and soak up that amazing view of that beach.
And as if this isn´t enough beauty for one small place already you got the 12 Apostles in the back. That mountain range forms the back of the Table Mountain and runs down to Hout Bay. It actually contains of 18 peaks but only 12 get counted. But that doesn't matter at all because the sight of this massive mountain range is simply overwhelming. Every time I look at the photos I made there I can´t believe that I´ve been there.
I will definitely need to come back to this place in summer time to fully enjoy it.

So beautiful place!
True, very beautiful
Many thanks @ackhoo 🙏
I spent the first 30 years of my life growing up in the Mother City and visited this beach occasionally. There was no entry fee back then in the nineties, so it's interesting to hear that it is now a pay-to-enter beach.
It is such a beautiful city. Yes it cost entry but I´m not sure if locals have to pay as well. Maybe its only for foreigners.
Beautiful piece of paradise. @betterthanhome. I love relaxing places like this. Swimming?
Yes it is. Of course, swimming there is nice but a bit cold :)
thank you, appreciate it
You're welcome
Brooooo awesome pictures! How much is needed to stay a month there? Also how's the weather I feel like it would be fresh on the side of chilly so idk if a beer would be appropriate but I totally wanna drink one while enjoying the view, I'm in Mexico you should travel down here also.
Thanks, glad you like it. Depends when you go. They have winter when europe has summer. I´ve been there from beginning march till end of may and it never was freezing cold but got a bit chilly at the end. During summer its freaking hot I heard. Cost of living is not as cheap as I thought but still cheaper than europe.
Mexico is on the list :)
