Yes, as the name suggests, this mosque is indeed a very large mosque in Aceh and this mosque is also the most famous mosque in Aceh, both in terms of its magnificent building similar to the Prophet's mosque in Mecca, as well as in terms of the history of the Acehnese people,
Before the tsunami happened this mosque was not that big but after the tsunami happened little by little changes were made, in 2017 this mosque was completed in renovation and the shape is so amazing, even though it is already majestic like this, this Baiturrahman Grand Mosque still has its characteristics that have not been lost For example, the pool in the middle of the mosque's garden, this kola already existed before it was renovated and the pool is also a silent witness to the dark history of the 2004 tsunami.
When the tsunami occurred, a lot of people took refuge in this mosque, sat inside to the fullest on the roof of this mosque, and all those who took shelter under this mosque, were all safe. This mosque is a religious tourism in Aceh, people say it is not legal to go to Banda Aceh if you have not visited this Baiturrahman Grand Mosque. If later friends to aceh don't forget to visit here.
