Hey Hivers,
Today i ll be sharing a blog about my visit to place known as CHURDHAR PEAK in the SIRMAUR Distt. of HIMACHAL PRADESH with my friends.
A trip filled with lots of fun, lots of adventure and trekking. We went there in the month of MAY in 2018 when our final exams ended. We planned our trip in such a way that we wanted to cover maximum part of SIRMAUR and SOLAN, but unfortunately we couldn't do it due to some reasons. We started our trip at about 3:00Pm from our hostel in CHANDIGARH on 08/05/2018. Our first stop was SOLAN where we had to stay at my friends home. We took bus from ISBT 43 to SOLAN . SOLAN is about 65km from CHANDIGARH. So it took us about 2.5 Hours to reach SOLAN. As we stepped down in Solan, my friend came to pick up . We left our luggage at his place and went to see the market and the most famous place of SOLAN "THE MALL".
We enjoyed a bit in the market and after that had some food and then hang around in the market.
As we woke up next morning we see lots of clouds 💨 and weather was not good.
We received many calls from our parents regarding cancelling of our trekking as it was forecasted to snow a lot in upcoming days. We could also see the bad weather but the vill to visit the place and desire didn't let our hope down and we stayed with our plan. We had our morning breakfast at his house and then packed our bags and went to bus stand to take direct bus to a place called NORADHAR.
NORADHAR : BASE CAMP FROM WHERE THE LONG 18KM TREKK TO CHURDHAR PEAK START
We took a bus from Solan at 10:30 in the morning. Unfortunately it was not a direct bus to NORADHAR, it was going till RAJGARH. The tickets were not available so we had sit on the roof of the bus and take heavy risk as there was no other bus available till evening that day.
We met new people while sitting on the roof of bus. We enjoyed a company of them. They shared information about their place and culture with us .
It took us about 2 hours to reach Rajgarh. We had some refreshments there and after that we again took a bus to NORADHAR. Hopefully this time we were able to get seats in the bus.
By 2:15 pm we reached NORADHAR. The weather was getting worse with time. Rainfall was about to come as we had juat landed in Noradhar.
We asked the locals about the length of the trekk and if there are any stay points in between or not. We gathered the information we needed to complete the trekk. We bought many food essentials from there to eat in between.
The trekk was 18km long so we decided to cover 12km of it.
We started our trekk with great enthusiasm. First 6km of the trekk was the hardest part to cover. It seemed like 90° slope .
We were having a good time doing a trekk, listening to good music which was giving a good vibe.
Just into 25 min of trekking we were shattered and heart broken to see weather change drastically. It suddenly started to rain , followed by hail storm.
We were all exposed to rain, storm,Lighting and thundering⚡ . We couldn't find any shleter where we could stay and wait till all is clear.
We kept walking and after a long try we found a cave where we met 2 GUJARS who had fire burn.
Still first stop was 1km away from the cave. As the weather got clear we again started walking and reached first stay point.
We had some tea there and warm our hands and foot.
It was about 4:30pm and we left stay point 1 and again started our trekking.
That day weather was not with us. This time it was again SNOWFALL who met us. Unfortunately this time we were not able to find any shelter for us.
Only thing we could do was walk and reach our stay point which was still 3.5km away from us.
Finally we reached our stay point 📍. We were all wet and our hand were shivering with cold .
The man there, the owner he was very helpful he took our bags and give us way to bonfire🔥.
We sat for about 1 hour in front of fire and had a tea right after it.
We asked the owner about the price of staying there and it was not that much , only ₹250 inr/person.
We stayed there for night . We also witnessed a light snowfall at night but it didn't last long.
Next morning we had a bright and happy start to the day. It was a good weather with little clouds and good ☀️ .
It was a good loaction to take pictures, so we took some pictures there.
We were able to see our destination from our stay point. We were very happy and excited.
Quickly we packed our bags and get going. It took us about 1.5 hours to visit the main temple of CHURDHAR.
We went to temple first in order to take some blessings from diety god. We also asked the priest regarding the history of temple and place.
Now the time to see the great SCULPTURE of LORD SHIVA and peak begin.
The snow was all around to the peak and it was becoming difficult to walk on snow.
By hook or crook we reached the top of the peak.
CHURDHAR peak is at an elevation of around 3650m from seal level.
The view from top was remarkable. Three district's were seen from the top of the peak. It had a very good panoramic view
LORD SHIVA sculpture has its own history there . There is one hole over there and it is believed that it leads to the hell.
We took some pictures at the top. We sat down there for a while and we could see weather Changing and fog started to come with wind.
We again went to temple premises where we had kept our bags to take them.
Anyone going there can stay in temple for night. People there will provide blankets .
We had our lunch there and now the time to go back came. All were ready and begin our journey back.
It only took us 1:45 min to reach stay point 1 from top of peak.
We stayed there for a while took some refreshments and enjoyed a beauty of the place.
We reached NORADHAR back at about 3:00pm and after 10 min we took bus back to SOLAN. Our reaching time of Solan was 8:00 but due to landslides we reached Solan at 11:00pm .
Due to health issue of one of us we had a cancel our all plans and had to head back to CHANDIGARH as soon as possible.
We took bus back to CHD at 11:45pm from solan and reached CHANDIGARH at 2:15Am. From there booked UBER and went to hostel straight away.
In this way we ended our small but wonderful trip to CHURDHAR PEAK.
