There is no better way to celebrate personal achievements than doing what we love the most. That's why today, as I am celebrating a great achievement, I am bringing you a commemorative art exhibition.
Actually, I didn't know what I was going to find when I went to this exhibition. I know that every now and then there are temporary exhibitions at the city's Customs Museum.
I went to see what it was about and its name caught my attention: ‘Lo que no está escrito’ (What is not written). Its slogan is: Before the image, before time. It seemed interesting.
As I live in EU countries I don't have to pay entrance fees and I can visit the museum as many times as I want. That's why I like to go to every temporary exhibition. Those who do not belong to the European Union only have to pay 1.5 euros, which is very cheap, as it is a museum that I consider to be one of the best.
The surprising thing is that on the façade there was no mention of any particular painter or artist, there was no author, and when I entered I realised that it was a special exhibition.
It is the commemoration of the 175th anniversary of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Telmo. An important number of very interesting and beautiful works are on display.
The temporary exhibition hall is located on the ground floor of the Palacio de la Aduana and is a large space where there is room for many works and even sculptures.
The works on display here cover the last three centuries, from the 19th century to the present day.
When I entered, the first works I saw were portraits and very well done, where the material used was oil on canvas. The faces were very well executed. It was a time when portraits of important people such as ladies and gentlemen were used a lot.
Another material that I could see on the signs near each work was oil on board, also very much used at that time.
A bust of the poet Salvador Rueda made in cast bronze has a very thoughtful facial expression and features.
Another oil on canvas portrait of a painter.
I loved this other painting of the Dead Sea at night, I like all the marine paintings very much.
And in the exhibition the portraits were interspersed with landscapes, both seascapes and lakescapes, which remind me of my time when I used to go to painting classes and do this kind of work.
Sculptures were also present in the commemorative exhibition, both in plaster material and in painted wood.
These very old and restored works are beautiful to see in an exhibition of this kind, in one The Immaculate Conception and in another Saint Theresa, works of great quality.
I was pleased to see paintings referring to everyday life, such as life in the port, the countryside, horses, and the faces so well done and well defined in their expressions. Works made in oil on canvas and on board. There are also materials such as cement and charcoal on paper.
Seascapes I think were the most abundant, but also views of abandoned villages, another time in history.
When I came to this work I was shocked, it is so well done that it looks like a photograph when in fact it is an oil painting on board and although it is only an orange, the perfection and realism is surprising, it is the type of painting that I also do.
As I was looking at each work I realised that the title of the exhibition alluded to works that may have gone unnoticed in comparison to the most famous works in history and in this space they had the possibility of being seen.
Female portraits also had their place in this exhibition, different styles, poses, worth seeing and enjoying for art lovers.
Also three portraits of painters, César Álvarez Dumont, José Moreno Carbonero and José Valentín Nogales Sevilla.
Some of the works were displayed in showcases, consisting of watercolours, ink, collage, charcoal, cardboard and graphite on paper. We see one in oil on panel and another in plaster.
Two other works were also in showcases, I suppose because of their antiquity and the care that must be taken, very well achieved faces.
On one of the walls there were eight very simple but beautiful marine works in oil on board.
In this other place the daughter of the painter Carbonero next to two paintings with the theme of roses, a lot of realism and detail.
Every corner of the place was delicately and tastefully displayed.
This sculpture is very captivating, not only for its size but also for the details. This piece is one of the most exquisite of the whole tour in my opinion.
Finally, in the centre of the enclosure there is an incredible life-size sculpture of the recumbent Christ that was worth seeing up close to appreciate the details that the sculptor took into account.
This model belongs to the Brotherhood of the Holy Burial of Úbeda and dates from 1960. The material and technique is polychrome plaster cast and the authors are Francisco Palma Burgos and Antonio Leiva Jiménez.
It is an impressive work that does not go unnoticed.
I was really delighted to have the opportunity to enjoy this exhibition, which ended on 8 September.
As always the inner courtyard of the museum is a great place to say goodbye to this magnificent exhibition.
Thank you all very much, best regards and see you next time.

I just encountered a Hiver who loves the City of Malaga and now, you shared another evidence of how wonderful the place is.
I like how being in the EU gives you the privilege of visiting the museum with free access.
