BEYLERBEYI PALACE | GREAT STORY AND HISTORICAL ARTS | TURKEY/ISTANBUL

This palace was initially constructed by Mahmud II as a summer residence in 1832. Unfortunately, during the stay of Sultan Abdülmecid in 1851, a fire broke out, earning it the name "sinister palace" and rendering it inactive for some time. It was eventually demolished in 1861 under the orders of Abdülaziz, who became the new ruler.

The construction of the current palace started on August 6, 1863. It was finished in 1864, and the grand opening took place on April 21, 1865, after the careful selection, construction, and placement of various items.
For a while, this palace was used for the treatment of soldiers injured in the Ottoman-Russian war and was restored in 1909.

Sultan Abdulhamid spends the last 6 years in this house and dies in this house.

When we arrived, there weren't many people inside. We had the chance to explore, and I found everything from the entrance to the exit to be fascinating. I was impressed for a while.

Upon entering the premises, a fee is required to access the museum. Turkish citizens are charged 50 TL, students are charged 25 TL, and tourists are charged 100 TL. Despite the cost, it is well worth it.

There are two different cafes inside for visitors, both in summer and winter.
A guide phone is distributed free of charge. This phone provides you with information in English about the history and the interior of the museum.

I am sure that the Sultan was swimming and enjoying himself here when this bridge, the houses in front of you, the crowd, noise, and people were not there, he must have lived a very good life for his period, I am a little envious :)

And here many gift sculptures came to the sultan, such as lions, deer, and tigers, which were gifted by French artists at the time and are exhibited here.

The palace, which was built on the quay by the sea, is a masonry structure and is a 2-story structure built on a high basement. Palace; It consists of Harem (northern part) and Mabeyn-i Hümayun (southern part) flats; It includes three entrances, six large halls, 24 rooms, 1 Turkish bath, and 1 bathroom. The palace has a rectangular structure. The roof of the palace is hidden by a parapet that goes around all the facades. Its exterior is separated by strongly defined molding separating the ground floor from the upper floor. The middle sections of the sea and side facades of the palace are arranged in three sections that protrude outward. The windows of the building are rectangular and decorated with arches. There are single and double columns between the windows and wall corners. The first floor is completely paved with marble, and the second floor is paved with marble-like stones.

The interior of the palace is also decorated with wood carvings, gold embroidery, painting, and writing. The plan of both floors consists of rooms around a large hall in the middle. On the ground floor, there is a pool whose water is taken from the sea and covered with glass. There are a total of four rooms at the corners of the hall on the ground floor. From the ground floor to the upper floor, a wide double-armed staircase or service staircase located opposite the pool can be reached. The great hall on the upper floor is called the Reception Hall. On the second floor, apart from the big hall, there are two small halls and small rooms facing the sea and land fronts. Sultan Abdulaziz showed a special interest in the interior decoration of the palace, and because of his passion for the sea, he had sea and ship themes worked into some of the frames and cartridges on the ceilings of the palace. Apart from this, there are poems written in thuluth and talk lines. The harem part of the palace was arranged more simply. The palace has three entrances: Harem, Selamlık, and seat gates.

I was fascinated by the interior, I looked everywhere carefully. It was really beautiful, the view of the Bosphorus you see when you look out of the window of the palace is magnificent, the inside is magnificent and everything was done with a lot of effort and detail. You should see it with your own eyes.
