A Day In Han River Korea

One of my confirmed schedule when I went to Korea was to enjoy a buffet and go on a short cruise after. My friend has booked us dinner buffet and a night cruise on the 22nd of March but was rescheduled to the 23rd due to some changes in our plan. It was quite fortunate that we changed it as it rained the night of 22nd. Our new booking was for lunch. If you’re curious, my friend booked the buffet and cruise set through klook. Here’s the link

The lunch buffet was at 12:30 so we arrived in Yeoinaru Station with just enough time to spare to get lost a little bit looking for the place. I thought it will be in some building but it’s actually in the floating terminal in the river.

Eland Cruise Terminal 2

We head up to the 2nd floor where the buffet is. I was so happy there were so many choices. There were mostly asian food but I did see some western food too. During that time I was looking for something fried so that’s what I ate mostly. I also loved the mussel soup I just had to get a second serving. Couldn’t really get pictures of the food as I was busy choosing. But here’s what I got.

Round 1 😆

2nds - filled my bowl with mussels 😆

Coffee after

Dome frozen fruits

I really wasn’t feeling the desserts tough so I didn’t get any. Had a cup of coffee after eating all those greasy food 😆 The buffet was 2hrs by the way but no one checked so we coud have stayed a bit more. But we decided to leave on time to get our ticket for the cruise. The ticket office is just in front of the terminal and we had to fill up a bording form to get our ticket and they also checked our passports. Only one form for groups.

Once we got our ticket we still had an hour to spare so we went back to the terminal. The first floor is where the waiting and boarding area are. There’s also a small arcade corner and a convenience store.

There’s nothing much to do there expect to wait but I head out near the boarding area to see some birds flying and took some pictures.

When we boarded we went to the open deck instead of just sitting on the 1st floor. Maybe I wasn't just reading what's on the cruise but people had some bags of dried fish to feed the birds. I just realized we were allowed to feed the birds on deck, but of course on the designated area. Although we weren't able to experience it ourselves, it was fun looking at people do it. They raise their hand holding a piece of fish and birds would swoop in to fetch it. Little kids were happy doing it. There was a live performance as well on the 1st floor and we can hear them on the deck. We sang along the songs we knew and enjoyed our ride.

Camera used for the bird photos:
Camera: Fujifilm X-T100
Lens: XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6

When it was over, it was still too early. One of us wanted to learn cycling so we rented a bicycle for an hour and taught her how to ride. I had a bit of exercise running around lol. Just in time when 1 hr had passed, we decided to have dinner there. It was actually very lively there as night time falls. Food stalls started popping up and groups of people crowded the vast space of land along the river. There are a lot of stalls renting mats and small tables as well so it wasn't a problem what to sit on. There's a 7/11 convenience store nearby so of course we bought and had to try eating ramyeon just like what I saw in Korean dramas and variety shows. Bought drinks that you had to pour in an ice cup too. Then there's also a chicken place just above 7/11 so we ordered takeout as well. It wasn't planned at all but I was happy I get to experience eating along the Han River.

Here's a breakdown of what we paid for dinner, everything in Korean won:
3 Steamed corn 15,000W
1 box Fried Chicken 25,000W
Drinks 12,900W
3 Ramyeon + 2 eggs each 22,400W
Rented Mat 8000W

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog.
