Still in the Alps - First Day of Skiing after many years

in Worldmappin10 months ago

Good morning and a happy Sunday to you all ! I hope you're all well. We're back to continue the story of this short stay in the Queyras region of the Alps in the south of France.

As you'll have gathered from the title of this article, I'm back on skis after more than 10 years! I have to admit that I was a bit nervous at first, but fortunately I soon got over it !

Part of my apprehension stemmed from the fact that I'm not very good at this sport, but also from all the previous times I've been on skis where I've invariably broken or sprained something ^^ !

This time, there's nothing to say, I didn't even fall once ! I don't know how it happened, but that's the way it is :)

To get to the top of the mountain and the slopes, there's no choice but to take the chairlifts. The runs are fairly long, I'd say around fifteen minutes. As you can see, there weren't many of us, and for good reason - we'd taken our holidays a week before the official dates.

Once at the top of the slopes, at an altitude of almost 2800 metres, all we had to do was descend ! The view is superb, wherever you look !

Here, the border with Italy snakes between the various passes and mountain ridges on this side.

The slopes follow on from each other and with the action, the sensations of sliding and speed gradually return. I have to say that I'm a pretty calm person, but from time to time, an adrenalin rush is always nice ^^ !

At the end of the day, I end up making my way back up to the top of the slopes for one last solo run. There can't be more than twenty runs in the ski area, but for a new beginner like me that's more than enough !

I take the time to walk back down to the resort and the hotel, which must take me around thirty minutes in all. I also take a few breaks, just to admire the snow-covered scenery and simply meditate.

So how did this first day back go ? It was great fun, and I'm even more surprised that I didn't sprain my ankle!

I hope you enjoyed this article and unfortunately, skiing and taking photos in action don't really mix :)

Thanks for visiting and have a great Sunday,

Conclusion de cette première journée de reprise ?

<3

the view in the Alps is very beautiful with dense and abundant snow, I have never skied before, I really want to try it

Unfortunately, there is no space for Skiing here and we don’t get to see the snow here but I’m sure you had a good experience while skiing
Enjoy!
