Hello hivers, hope you all are doing fine.
This blog is about the trek of CHURDHAR peak located in SIRMOUR district of Himachal Pradesh :mountain: . I did this trek along with my friends in mid May of 2018. In this blog you will get to know about the churdhar peak and beautiful landscapes in this region. I will give the important details about this trek along with my experience.

The attractive Churdhar Peak is the one of the highest peak in Shivalik range of Himalayas with the height of 12000ft. Churdhar is basically known as Churichandni which means the Bangle of Snow. At the summit of peak there is a statue of Lord Shiva The "Chooreshwar Mahadev " (shown in above picture). Below the summit is the beautiful square temple of Sirgul Maharaj along with small houses for nigh stay. While covering this trek I came across the the beautiful wildlife sanctuary and if you are lucky you can also see animals like musk deer and himachal pardesh national bird monal.

There are two motorable destinations from where you can start your trekking for Churdhar peak. First, the main location is Nohradhar(Sirmour) with 18 km trek length and second is Saharan village in Chaupal(Shimla) with 8 km trek length. I did this trek from Nohradhar and covered it in 2 days along with my 5 other friends. We took a bus from Solan to Nohradhar and it took us 4 hours to reach our destination.

The summers were about to start, me and my friends have 7 days vacation from our college after our semester end paper. So, we plan to go on trek of churdhar peak. We packed our bags and start our journey from Chandigarh to Solan, as planed to stay at a friends home at Solan.

Next morning we had our breakfast and by 8 am we took our HRCT bus for Nohradhar from Solan. It was an amazing and adventures journey as after half of the route we went on the roof of bus because passengers were full inside it . It was an amazing experience of my life and the view of nature was astonishing.

IMG_0089.jpg

I clicked some of the pictures form the roof of bus and get to know about the cultures of the area by interacting with some people.

IMG_0138.jpg

We reach at Nohradhar at 12pm and took our lunch. Then we bought some eatables for our trek and we came to know about the night stay at Sirgul Maharaj temple night stay facility. So we planned to cover the whole trek till evening and stay on temple resistant at night. I with my five friends started this trek at 2pm from Nohradhar as planned to cover this trek in 4.5 hours so that by 6:30 we would reach at our destination.

IMG_0457.jpg

It was 45 minutes of steep hill trek from Nohradhar to reach at the top of churdhar valley and now we have to walk along the top of mountains range of churdhar wildlife sanctuary. It is very important to take the picture of map available at the smarting point of trek at Nohradhar along with the helpline no.

We took some rest and had our eatable after the hill trek.

IMG_6015.jpg

We reach at our first stop within 1 hours and 30 minutes and had our tea at Lucky Dhaba & Home Stay restaurant. The weather was very good and we picked our bags and started the trek after a tea break planned to take rest at Teesri, which was our next stop.

IMG_0351.jpg

We were enjoying our trek with music and was able to meet some of shepherds along. The clouds started gathering above us and suddenly the rain of hail started with lightning.

IMG_0265.jpg

The weather was getting worse and we were not able to complete our trek as planned, so we decided to reach Teesri by evening and stay there for a night and start our trek tomorrow.

IMG_0362.jpg

We managed to reach Teesri by 7pm but out clothes were wet due to the rain. We managed to find our night stay at some Dhaba. We managed to dry our clothes by fir and took our dinner and went to sleep.

It was a chilled morning and the whole valley of churdhar was covered with snow. We was amazed to see the snowfall in the month of may as we didn't prepare our packing according to that, that's the reason churdhar is known as the Bangle of Snow.

IMG_5975.jpg

Now it was expected to be a sunny day and the sun came with no clouds. We packed our bags and started at 8 am for remaining trek and expect to cover it within an hour.

IMG_0301.jpg

Along our trek we came across a beautiful location from where the whole valleys around can be seen. We took some beautiful pictures as below

In above picture you can see the statue of Lord Shiva at the summit of Churdhar peak.

IMG_0395.jpg

We directly went to the top of summit for the darshan of Lord Shiva and managed to see the mesmerizing view from the top of churdhar peak and click some amazing pics.

IMG_0361.jpg

Now we came down the from the top to have breakfast and visit the famous temple of Sirgul Maharaj. The Statue is located at the top of peak but the temple is located little below from the top hardly 15 minutes from top.

IMG_0349.jpg

The above pic is of Sirgul Maharaj Temple which was under construction when we went on this trek but now it is fully constructed and it reflects the culture, tradition and awesome design.

IMG_0195.jpg

If you are planning your trek for churdhar the night stay is available at temple residence for very cheap price of money. You don't have need to bring camping things for this trek but its your choice how you wanted to do this trek. We were not able to reach temple in evening due to weather conditions so we were bond to stay at Teesri.

IMG_0360.jpg

We had our breakfast at temple canteen and was time to go back. We started heading back from temple to Nohradhar at 11am. We managed to click some pictures while coming back as listed below

IMG_0195.jpg

We managed to reach Nohradhar at 1:30pm in noon and we had our lunch and took bus for Solan. Hence our adventure trek of Churdhar valley ends here.

IMG_5966.jpg

From my experience, this is my most beautiful trek and witnessing the snowfall in the month of may makes it the more adventure for me. I recommend you to start this trek from Nohradhar in morning so that you would reach the top in evening as in Nohradhar there are good hotels for night stays. I would suggest this trek to have top position in your bucket list if you are looking for trek near Shimla, Solan and even in Shivalik range of Himalayas.
