Peregrinos VIP en el Río Tíber - VIP Pilgrims on the Tiber River (ENG-ESP)

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes unas fotos que tomé durante un paseo por el Río Tíber, cerca del Castillo Sant’Angelo en Roma, y contarles un poco cómo fue ese momento tan bonito que ocurrió en la tarde del mismo día de la misa de cierre del Jubileo.

Ese día conocimos a Mariale, una amiga de las chicas con las que nos las pasamos todo el viaje, ella es una venezolana que vive en Italia. Ella se acercó a nosotros después de la misa de cierre y nos rescató, ya que tenía su carrito, que estacionó como a media hora de donde estábamos así que de regreso no caminamos tanto como cuando llegamos y nos empezamos a llamar los peregrinos VIP.

Today I want to share with you some photos I took during a walk along the Tiber River, near Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, and tell you a little about that beautiful moment that happened on the afternoon of the closing Mass of the Jubilee.

That day we met Mariale, a friend of the girls we spent the whole trip with. She is a Venezuelan who lives in Italy. She approached us after the closing Mass and rescued us, as she had her car, which she parked about half an hour away from where we were, so on the way back we didn't walk as much as when we arrived, and we started calling ourselves the VIP pilgrims.

Algo gracioso que sucedió es que una vez en el carro, ella iba a subir los vidrios y encender el aire acondicionado pero rápidamente se arrepintió, ya que olíamos muy mal, pero bueno no es para menos, después de haber caminado tanto, sudado, secado, sudado de nuevo, secado de nuevo, raro hubiese sido que oliéramos bien.

Así que nada, después de bañarnos, salimos de nuevo a este lugar, que es un excelente spot de fotos y me encantó desde el primer momento, ya que se trata de una combinación de historia, arquitectura, y donde puedes observar el movimiento tranquilo del río, y capturar la esencia del momento sin interrupciones.

Something funny happened: once we got in the car, she was going to roll up the windows and turn on the air conditioning, but she quickly changed her mind because we smelled so bad. But hey, it's no wonder, after walking so much, sweating, drying off, sweating again, drying off again... it would have been strange if we smelled good.

So anyway, after showering, we went back to this place, which is an excellent photo spot and I loved it from the first moment, as it is a combination of history and architecture, and where you can observe the calm movement of the river and capture the essence of the moment without interruptions.

Me encantó ver algunos turistas tomándose fotos, los locales paseando y los pequeños barcos navegando lentamente por el río. Nos tomamos varias fotos, incluso en algunas salgo abrazando a mi novio, como que no lo quería soltar en ningún momento, pero de eso se trata, de capturar tanto la calma como la naturalidad que representaba estar allí.

Roma tiene ese poder de transportarte a otra época, de hacerte sentir parte de una historia que ha durado siglos, y estoy muy feliz de haber podido capturar estos momentos tan especiales. Después de tomarnos muchas fotos fuimos a comer y ¿por qué no? Dar un último paseo por el Vaticano juntos, ya que ese día las chicas se iban.

I loved seeing tourists taking photos, locals strolling around, and small boats slowly sailing down the river. We took several photos, including some where I'm hugging my boyfriend, as if I didn't want to let him go, but that's what it's all about: capturing both the calm and the naturalness of being there.

Rome has the power to transport you to another era, to make you feel part of a history that has lasted for centuries, and I am very happy to have been able to capture these special moments. After taking lots of photos, we went to eat and, why not? We took one last walk through the Vatican together, as the girls were leaving that day.
