Hello @worldmappin A few days ago I had the chance to visit one of the most curious and striking buildings in Havana: the Grand Masonic Lodge. I wasn’t really planning to go inside, but things flowed in a nice way and I ended up rehearsing some pieces with the Korimacao choir right there in the main hall. Totally unexpected, but one of those moments you remember.
The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the atmosphere. The place has this vintage vibe—green seats, checkered floor, old theater lights—and I just stood there for a moment taking it in. It feels like stepping into a time capsule.
One thing worth mentioning for anyone who doesn’t know: Freemasonry is basically a historical fraternity that focuses on principles like personal growth, ethics, mutual support, and community work. There’s a lot of symbolism in their traditions, but at its core it’s a group where people meet to discuss ideas, help each other, and contribute to society. Nothing secretive or strange—just an organization with a long history.
Walking around, I noticed several murals showing moments from Cuban history. Full of symbolism, color, and intention. I paused more than once to look at them properly.
The outside of the building is also impressive. The huge globe on the roof with the Masonic symbol on top makes it hard not to look up. Even in a city full of unique architecture, this one stands out.
Even the staircase caught my attention—the light from above, the iron details, the calm vibe of the space. Going down after the rehearsal felt almost cinematic.
What was supposed to be a simple visit ended up becoming a mix of music, history, and . One of those very Cuban moments that just happen without planning. If you ever visit Havana, this place is definitely worth a stop.

Hace unos días tuve la oportunidad de entrar a uno de los edificios más llamativos y curiosos de La Habana: la Gran Logia Masónica. En verdad no tenía pensado entrar, pero todo se fue dando y terminé ensayando un par de temas con el coro Korimacao en el salón principal. Una sorpresa total, pero de esas que se recuerdan.
Lo primero que me impresionó fue el ambiente. Tiene una vibra antigua tremenda: butacas verdes, el piso ajedrezado, lámparas tipo teatro… y me quedé un momento parado, solo mirando. Parece una cápsula del tiempo.
Y para quien no lo tenga claro: la masonería es básicamente una fraternidad muy antigua centrada en valores como el crecimiento personal, la ética, el compañerismo y el trabajo comunitario. Usan bastante simbolismo porque forma parte de su tradición, pero en esencia es un grupo donde la gente se reúne para compartir ideas, ayudarse entre sí y aportar algo útil a la sociedad. Nada raro ni misterioso—simplemente una organización histórica con mucho peso cultural.
Mientras caminaba por los pasillos, me encontré con varios murales que representan momentos de la historia cubana. Llenos de color y simbolismo. Medetuve más de una vez a verlos bien.
Por fuera, el edificio impone. Ese globo enorme en el techo con el símbolo masónico hace que cualquiera mire hacia arriba. Y mira que La Habana tiene arquitectura única, pero este lugar destaca.
Hasta la escalera me llamó la atención: la luz, los detalles de hierro, la calma del espacio… casi parecía una escena de película cuando bajé después del ensayo.
Al final, lo que iba a ser una visita rápida terminó mezclando música, historia y arquitectura. Una experiencia muy cubana, de esas que pasan sin planearse. Si un día andas por La Habana, este edificio vale totalmente la pena.
