On the Path of the Ezzelini - Castello di Godego - Treviso - Discovering Italy with alequandro!

Hi friends, in today's post I take you on the path of the "Sentiero degli Ezzelini", in the province of Treviso.
Luckily it rained a few days ago and now the temperature is more bearable so almost by a miracle it occurred to me to take a bike ride.

Wow it was more than a year that I did not use the bike!

The path of the Ezzelini is a 40 km cycle-pedestrian path that extends from Padua to Riese Pio X.

Today's post concerns the area of ​​Castello di Godego which is located towards the end of the route, a few kilometers from Riese Pio X.

The section I have traveled is on a dirt road and runs along the Muson stream.
Along the stream, the vegetation is spontaneous and also composed of acacia trees, a native species of the Venetian plain.

Il tratto che ho percorso è su sterrato e costeggia in torrente Muson.
Lungo il torrente la vegetazione è spontanea e composta anche da alberi di acacia specie autoctona della pianura veneta.

In some stretches you run alongside cultivated fields which are clearly suffering due to the drought problems of this period.

In alcuni tratti si costeggiano campi coltivati che sono in evidente sofferenza visti i problemi di siccità di questo periodo.

When I started with the bike I realized that the front brake was not responding ... well after ten minutes the rear brake also abandoned me!

My bike is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes, I absolutely have to get it back on track!

Quando ero partito con la bici mi ero accorto che il freno anteriore non rispondeva...beh dopo dieci minuti mi ha abbandonato anche il freno dietro!

There are some sections where you pass between trees, luckily when they recovered this ancient path, they decided to preserve them.

Poi con una pista ciclabile ci si ricongiunge con il sentiero degli Ezzelini...

After passing a sports area with a regular football field, you arrive at the San Pietro park...

Dopo aver passato un'area sportiva con un campo da calcio regolamentare, si arriva al parco San Pietro...

The main building of the park is the ancient chapel of San Pietro.

L'edificio principale del parco è l'antico sacello di San Pietro.

Measuring 17.65 x 7.23 m, it is an early Christian building with a rectangular plan and a trussed ceiling. Walled on the outside of the church there are two carved stone crosses dating back to the seventh century.

In 1747, inside, in the altar table, a lead box with relic dust and a carved cross bearing a Gothic inscription and the date 719 was found. Two precious earrings dating back to the end of IX and the beginning of the XI century.

Misura 17,65 x 7,23 m è un edificio paleocristiano a pianta rettangolare e con il soffitto a capriate. Murate all'esterno della chiesa si trovano due croci in pietra scolpita risalenti al secolo VII.

Nel 1747, al suo interno, nella mensa dell'altare fu ritrovata una cassetta di piombo con polvere di reliquie ed una croce intagliata recante una iscrizione gotica e la data 719. Nell'area del sacello furono ritrovati due preziosi orecchini risalenti tra la fine del IX e gli inizi dell'XI sec.

Vicino alla chiesa c'è un grande tronco d'albero intagliato in modo da ricavare delle sedute.

Close to the path there is a monument dedicated to Saint Prosdocimo, the first bishop of Padua, who had wanted the construction of the chapel dedicated to Saint Peter.

A ridosso del sentiero c'è un monumento dedicato a San Prosdocimo primo vescovo di Padova, colui che aveva voluto la costruzione del sacello dedicato a San Pietro.

A sign informs about the main buildings of interest in the area. I discovered that there is also a nature trail that starts from the church, one day I will explore it!

Un cartello informa sui principali edifici di interesse nella zona. Ho scoperto che c'è anche un sentiero naturalistico che parte dalla chiesa, un giorno lo esplorerò!

Continuing the tour of the park I came to a very beautiful wrought iron work, which frames the chapel of St. Peter with two large hands, very nice!

Continuando il giro del parco sono arrivato ad un'opera in ferro battuto molto bella, che incornicia il sacello di San Pietro con due grandi mani, molto carino!

A few meters away there is also a very particular fountain...

What can I say, this is only a small stretch of the Sentiero degli Ezzelini. When I have fixed the bike I will explore the rest a little at a time!
