Greetings friends!

Life is a continuous journey which we have to take till it's over. So, I love to travel. I love visiting various places as I am an admirer of nature.

I was surfing some old photographs and found following photographs which I took when I visited a beautiful place in the Garhwal Himalayas a few months ago. This place is known as Khirsu. It is a small village located 15 kilometer away from Pauri, which is a famous hill city in the Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state of India.

This place is so beautiful, yet devoid of heavy crowd which we have become accustomed to in India. Here one can view the beauty of the Himalayas. Unfortunately I accidently deleted many outstanding photos from my phone. But, a few are left which I am sharing with you.

As you can see how admiring is the beauty of this place! This small village is full of deodar (cedar), birch, pine and various other trees and shrubs. Here various birds and wild animals can also be seen. I was expecting it as a very steep and rocky place but at the height of 1800 meter from the sea level, Khirsu lies on almost a flat surface on the Himalayas.

Tourist can walk on beautiful gardens, parks and can go for tracking on the heights of the Himalayas and admire its beauty. There are forest nursery of the forest department and also some government offices. This place is a natural paradise. Luckily, it is not visited by many tourists. So, it is not even overcrowded.

How to reach there?

There is a railway station at Rishikesh from the western side while Kotdwara is an another option from the southern side. Jolly-grant is the nearest airport which is linked with New Delhi, the capital city of India. One can stay in Pauri city and travel to Khirsu hiring a taxi from there as it is just 15 kilometer away. One can even buy local items from there. There is very cold in winters but weather remains pleasant during the summers. Snowfall is common during the winters. From July to September there is a heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. So, it is not advisable to visit there during the monsoon rain. I enjoyed my trip. I will visit there again if I get a chance.

Thank you for reading. Have a pleasant weekend!
