RE: Meeting the American Dream for the First Time

Hi @storiesoferne, you just made me utter "Wow!" while I am looking at the photos of the enormous hotel that you stayed in (you must have enjoyed your stay there very much.

Let me guess, based on the photo of the TV on one of your photos, you went there in the year 2006, and the photo is about 15 years old now. By the way, the first and the second photo on your blog is amazing, the locomotive too.

All in all, this is again a great publication combined with superb photography.

Also, I just want to add that I too will feel nervous if ever an immigration officer invites me into an enclosed room.

Hello @afterglow. Exactly! It was definitely a hotel suite that overwhelmed me initially because of the largely spacious amenities and I never expected that it was reserved just for me. I even thought someone else was sharing the huge room interior with me, lol. 🤣 Regardless, I was still thankful for all the tremendous blessings received during that trip. And if you were in my shoes, I'm also pretty certain you'd feel tense in New York's JFK airport during those same moments. Fortunately, I was able to compose myself professionally by not immediately panicking, or else I could have been sent back home.

I'm simply curious about your intelligent guess on the TV and hotel room's age. How did you arrive at the year 2006 and the 15 years?

I started by remembering the year of that fateful day (attack on the World Trade Center) which was in 2001. I have a broken television which is a FLAT SCREEN TV (I tried hard to remember the year that I bought that broken TV, but I failed). When I failed to remember the exact year when I bought my TV I just tried to estimate the year when I bought it, I arrived at the year 2009 then I estimated the year of release of the TV on your photo, I counted backward since my TV is a newer model than that of the TV on your photo, by counting backward I arrived at the year of 2006. We are now at the year 2021, I subtracted 2006 from 2021 and the product is 15 years.

OMG! Amazing observations! You certainly can be a freelance detective or police investigator with your comprehensive analysis, haha. 🤣 Thank you so much Jonathan for investing the time to immerse in my travel story. Take care and have an enjoyable one! 😊

You're welcome @storiesoferne it is always a delightful experience to read and immerse my own self on your travel story.
