Yesterday I went to La Feria, in the city of Las Tunas, Cuba. This is the site I'm going to show you.

But this has not been done for some years now. The economic crisis has hit this sector hard and since then the people of Las Tunas only call it “La Feria”. In the #werldmapping application it appears as Feria Ganado, but the cattle are no longer shown. The name is due to the fact that in another era there were exhibitions of large and small cattle, along with the highly anticipated rodeo.

Nowadays it is an agricultural fair that opens on weekends. Normally it opens on Saturdays and Sundays, but this time it only opened on Sundays. So, I took the opportunity to go.
If you come to Las Tunas and want to buy the best vegetables and the prettiest and most varied food, this is the place. It is true that you have to go and load up once a week, but it is worth it. As you can see in the photos, there is everything you can find in the province and in one place.

I took advantage of the fact that I had been paid and took a nice bunch of manzanita bananas. It wasn't in the plans, but they looked so pretty from a distance that I couldn't resist.
On my walk I came across stands where they sold tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and pumpkins. Everything I was looking for, and more.

The chives were very fresh and cheap, so they also made it onto the shopping list. And, of course, since it's a fair, that's not the only thing you'll find. There's a section for meats and sausages, another for quail eggs, home accessories, restaurants, cafes and more.

For example, there's a space for sports games for children and teenagers (it was still being set up).

Of course, live music couldn't be missed 😃

Something I enjoyed with joy was meeting a street vendor of Prú ​​oriental. This is a non-alcoholic, effervescent drink made from the root of a plant that only grows here in eastern Cuba. But that's another post. It's a shame that, because I was so happy to find it, I didn't take a photo. However, I'm sharing this photo of a delicious ice cream that I bought afterwards and I also loved it. Especially because of the heat.

I was already too loaded and short on time when I found this platform where they were selling ice cream and yogurt. I already know where they are, so I'll come back next week and make it my first stop.

This is where rodeos used to take place. The stands and the field where cowboys and bullfighters performed are still there, but they are not in use. For some, it is a shame that they are no longer held. In my opinion, I like those shows where they do not kill or torture animals.

Ayer fui a La Feria, en la ciudad de Las Tunas, Cuba. Este es el sitio que les voy a mostrar.

Pero ya no se hace desde hace algunos años. La crisis económica ha golpeado fuerte a este sector y desde entonces los tuneros solo lo llaman “La feria”. En la aplicación de #werldmapping aparece como Feria Ganado, pero ya no se muestra al ganado. En la actualidad es una feria agropecuaria que abre los fines de semana. Normalmente abre los sábados y domingo, pero este que pasó, solo abrió el domingo. Entonces, aproveché para ir.
Si vienen a Las Tunas y desean comprar los mejores vegetales y las viandas más bonitas y variadas, este es el sitio. Es cierto que hay que ir y cargar una vez a la semana, pero vale la pena. Como pueden ver en las fotos, hay de todo lo que se puede encontrar en la provincia y en un mismo sitio.

Aproveché que había cobrado y cargué con un buen racimo de plátano manzanita. No estaba en los planes, pero se veían tan lindos desde la distancia, que no pude resistirme.
En mi caminar me encontré con tarimas donde vendían tomates, lechugas, pepinos y calabazas. Todo lo que buscaba, y más.

El cebollino estaba muy fresco y barato, así que también entró en la lista de compra.
Y, claro que, al ser una feria, no es lo único que encuentras. Hay una sección para carnes y embutidos, otra para huevos de codorniz, accesorios del hogar, restaurantes, cafeterías y más.

Como por ejemplo, un espacio para los juegos deportivos para niños y adolescentes (aún se estaba montando).

Por supuesto, la música en vivo no podía faltar 😃

Algo que disfruté con alegría fue encontrarme con un vendedor ambulante de Prú oriental. Esta es una bebida no alcohólica, efervescente, hecha con la raíz de una planta que solo crece aquí en el oriente cubano. Pero ya ese es otro post. Es una lástima que, por la alegría de encontrarlo, no le hice una foto. Sin embargo, les comparto esta foto de un riquísimo helado de mantecado que me compré después y también me encantó. Sobre todo, por el calor que tenía.

Ya iba demasiado cargado y corto de tiempo cuando encontré esta tarima donde vendían helados y yogures. Ya sé dónde están, para regresar la semana próxima y que sea mi primera parada.

En este lugar es donde antes se realizaban los rodeos. Las graderías y el campo donde los vaqueros y toreros realizaban sus actuaciones, aún están, pero inutilizadas. Para algunos es una lástima que ya no se realicen. En mi opinión, me gustan aquellos espectáculos donde no maten o torturen a los animales.
Bueno, ya saben a dónde venir a comprar lo bueno, bonito y barato aquí en Las Tunas. Espero que les haya interesado.
