How to Use the !RemindMe Bot: @reminder.ping

in STEMGeekslast month (edited)

Welcome to Reminder Ping, Hive's RemindMe Bot by @ahmadmanga! I made this bot to help you set reminders and receive notifications on the Hive platform.

If you're here you probably want to learn how to use this bot. Follow the instructions below to get started.

Features

  • Set Reminders: Easily create reminders for yourself or others using simple commands.
  • Flexible Time Formats: Use natural language to specify when you want to be reminded.

Getting Started

1. Adding the Bot to Your Conversation

To start using the Reminder Ping Hive Bot, you need to mention it in a comment. It won't work on a top-level post. Just type "!" followed by "RemindMe" (e.g., !RemindMe) followed by your command.

You can use Upper-case or lower-case letters while typing!remindme The bot will understand it either way.

2. Setting a Reminder

To set a reminder, use the command !remindme followed by the time you want to be reminded. Here are some examples:

  • Relative Time:

    • !remindme 10 minutes from now
    • !remindme 2 hours later
    • !remindme 3 days from now
  • Specific Dates:

    • !remindme on October 15th, 2024
    • !remindme on 12/25/2024
  • Want More sophisticated commends?

    • More features are planned for this bot, but if you want faster updates, show your support and suggestions. Give your feedback @ahmadmanga.spk

3. Understanding the Time Formats

The bot accepts a variety of time formats, including:

  • Seconds: !remindme 30 seconds
  • Minutes: !remindme in 15 minutes
  • Hours: !remindme 1 hour
  • Days: !remindme in 1 day
  • Weeks: !remindme in 2 weeks
  • Months: !remindme in 1 month
  • Years: !remindme in 1 year

You can also combine these with phrases like “from now” or “later” for clarity. The bot should also accept the command with in and without it.

4. Receiving Your Reminder

When your specified time arrives, the bot will reply to your comment with your reminder message. The notification will include a custom message that reminds you of the task you set.

5. Editing or Deleting a Reminder

Currently, the bot does not support editing reminders. If you need to change a reminder, delete the existing one by simply specifying the command you used to set it and follow up with a new reminder command.

Tips for Effective Use

  • Be Clear and Concise: Use straightforward language when setting your reminders to ensure accuracy.
  • Check Time Zones: The bot operates on UTC time, so make sure to adjust your reminders accordingly.
  • Give Feedback: This bot is still in its infancy. It'll only become great when users test it to its limits and give feedback on it. Comment your feedback below and/or tag @ahmadmanga the developer.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues:

  • Ensure you are using the correct command format.
  • Check your spelling and time format.
  • If the bot does not respond, it may be due to a technical issue. Please try again later.

Thanks For Using @reminder.ping
