It's a monthly feeling; a dreadful one.
The crimson companion on my padded self,
I feel the heartbreak through my ovaries; they feel strangulated.
The spasms and weakness in my whole body keep me bedridden and turning like a moving clock.
The back aches flog me with pangs like from a partitioned bone
The fear I feel before the dreadful days,
The sting of raw ginger in my mouth
The bland taste of avocado tea leaves I drink for ease
The yet-to-be-completed tasks staring at me in the eyes Like a statue stares.
The ever-quick running cycle of a score and 5 days
The search for healing
The thankfulness that my ovaries are alert; that they didn't fertilize
So I wait for the next month, maybe cycle to see if the pain flees or chaperones my flow.
