As Light As

Upon tip toe, for that is all you can take,
Any more pressure and down you will break.
A box filled with fragile glass and edges taped,
But the dripping of reality has peeled the edges away.

The tiresome drone of a million voices saying the same,
No original thought amongst them and all to blame.
For ease and convenience the name of their game,
A billion individuals melded into a singular shame.

Keep voices of dissent down to an inaudible tone,
As the knife of the masses look to cut to the bone.
Remove all that resists to accept what is sown,
And end up just another monotonous clone.

Ignorance brings bliss in the moment sought,
With the price to be paid in the future court.
For thousands of years humanity has fought,
Only to lose to what we have willingly bought.

So wise you are with the words you spill out,
The repetitive words of an emotional bout,
Irrelevant and weightless holding no clout,
A feather on breeze blown over creative drought.

You look for truth in an imaginary field,
With eyes closed from fear and expectation of shield.
The pieces all fit when you have the patience to build,
instead into victimhood you willingly yield.

These lines are really wonderful. It is true that humanity has to be fought for everywhere in the world. But we are human and we should have human qualities because these qualities have made us different from other animals. But in the present time, human qualities are being destroyed day by day among humans.

This is really good! Not that my opinion matters. lol In my mind, it really captures the state of our world today, with the mindless, shout-you-down, pitchfork-bearing mob of the left-leaning media. Call people names, tell everyone their victims, tax the people actually producing wealth while incentivizing those who don't to stay down and vote for them. Ignorance is indeed bliss for the sheep. The elites will tell you what to think. Don't use your own intellect to view issues from more than one perspective. Blah, blah, blah...I could keep going.

To me, the mark of a truly good poem is when the conversation around what the author is saying can go on for hours, while it only takes a few seconds to read the poem itself. This does that in spades. Truly well done!

We often give up our uniqueness just to fit in with society.

The fragility of a conformist society that sacrifices individuality for comfort. You may be right in saying that critical thinking has been lost, dissent silenced and victimhood encouraged; I agree with the latter. People choose the easy way out, just as ignorance does, and humanity crumbles into a monotonous existence, becoming “clones” who have sold their essence for immediate gratification, but the world moves on and there is nothing we can do to change it.
