Sea air,
enveloping scent
that wakes me up
I smell, I breathe, I hear
I watch in the darkness of my room
and I can't get it right
What awakens this longing?
What brought me this smell?
That grew in your hair and on your skin
and it made me happy...
More soon,
you come out of nowhere,
and if it's a dream, I don't want to wake up.
And I see you there
looking at me with that good look
with your surprised face,
who fails to understand this reality,
with those eyes throwing kindness
and peering into the corners of my soul.
And I'm amazed
because when I get close to you
you hug me shuddering,
with a huge hug
full of humanity, peace and love.
And that's when I understand
that you didn't fall asleep in that cold metal box,
that you didn't leave at all
that you are here, with me
and I laugh, I laugh, I laugh…
and I cry, I cry, I cry...
My heart breaks when I read this @sirenahippie. Only those that have loved and lost can understand. I buried my first husband after his long battle with cancer. That was 13 years ago and yet that raw reality never ages. I've journeyed that dark valley with other friends who have also watched the dirt being thrown on that wooden box in the ground. And I understand.
Thank you very much for your words, I know you understand, and I understand you. The important thing is that we know that there is an afterlife, and that one day we will see those we loved and they are gone.
A big hug @buckaroobaby
And to you! That is our hope and our future
Amazing poem for your very first post here! I can relate to what you are conveying in your poem right now.. missing someone is really too much, even sleeping becomes a problem 😆. Amazing poem, keep it up. 😊
Thank you very much for your kind words. I wrote these verses decades ago, and I had them saved, I had not read them again until a few days ago. Sometimes those things that cause pain must be left in a drawer, and only when we are strong enough, take them out and see them again.
A big greeting @maggotmilk
A scent that reminds you of your loved one who isn't there physically but connects so well with you despite the absence. How powerful fragrances can be! Bringing beautiful people and memories back to mind.
Fragrances are one of the most powerful manifestations that connect us with other planes. Thank you for stopping by to read and make such a beautiful comment. Greetings @amiegeoffrey

What a beautiful poem.
You have captured the feeling of loss so well and how certain things, like scents etc trigger memories.
I hope to see more poetry from you @sirenahippie, thank you for sharing xxxxx
Thank you very much for your visit and beautiful comment.
I read your poem yesterday, but it seemed so beautiful and profound that I was left breathless, speechless.
I'll try to post some old verses, I haven't written for a long time. A hug @trucklife-family

Welcome to the community @sirenahippie , interesting poem, the one you share with us, it has, in my opinion, a heartfelt force of mixed feelings, I liked how you manage to convey those feelings and emotions to the reader, so then I share with you a small analysis after reading from my particular point of view and perspective, I hope you like it.
This poem is a beautiful reflection on memory and the loss of a loved one. The author of this poem uses descriptive and detailed imagery to convey her emotional experience of seeing and feeling a familiar scent in her room, which immediately connects her to her loved one. Throughout the poem, the author describes the presence of her loved one, as if, although no longer physically present, he is still with her. The embrace she receives is a demonstration of the love, kindness, and peace that her loved one carries with her and transmits to the author.
It is a poem written with a great emotional charge and a delicate prose that can connect with the sensibility of the readers.
Best regards.
Ohh, thank you very much for this warm and friendly welcome, I really feel very good.
Your words are very kind, and your analysis is very accurate, in the sense of the feelings that I wanted to express in these verses.
I no longer write poetry. Many years ago I did do it frequently, I didn't do it anymore, because something broke inside me and I didn't do it again. It's just that this little poem was saved and I wanted to bring it and this community seemed ideal to do so.
It is a beautiful community, I congratulate you for this beautiful and kind space.
Thank you very much for your welcome, a hug @jakim7
