a cat warming the backs of my knees
a dog curled into my stomach -
another night in a too soft bed
frost
even the tiny fuzzy peaches
sit blinking in this morning’s sun
I was tempted to leave the comment
‘this is banal’
on nearly every poem I read
I really must put three ice cubes
on my orchid -
it’s blooming!
I got a chuckle,
and a tiny tickle,
from your stupid emoji
if your pencil is pointy
and your shovel newly sharpened
simple digs deep
I’m trying to write tiny poems
that make your head cock -
like boxcarblue’s
I'm delightfully intriqued by @boxcarblue's recurring seven poem series. He's (he?) very, very good at writing tiny poems that make my mind go 'huh?' like a dog trying to understand.
These were not all written just this morning, but most were. Two of them were previous responses to other posts. Can you tell which ones?
Thank you so very much for reading my poems. It's nice to be able to write them again.
Number 3 made me chuckle. The exact way I feel when I put some words together.
This is a fine collection of short poems. I love them! 🙂 !LUV

Oh how I needed to hear that! Especially that you chuckled. They amused me, and said what I wanted to say, but I never know how they are going to come off to someone else. Thanks for your comment and support!
Numbers 3 and 5 perhaps?
haha I never expect people to read to the end! Thanks for doing so. 5 is one of them, yes.
I always read to the end unless I'm bored stiff on the way down.
Small inspirations for this Saturday. Some made me smile, very entertaining to read your post with your microwritings.
Thanks for sharing.
Good day
Thanks for commenting! All the best to you.
Another convert to haiku. Excellent 😃
Yes, I agree with you, @boxcarblue is a natural at these small verses. I am impressed at everything he writes. I've been studying haiku most of my life at this point, and he blows me away.
Yours are pretty good too. I like this one:
heh I feel this.
I didn't intend for these to be haiku, just short poems, but I do love to write haiku.
I like that one too.
Three and five are very amusing.
I just checked my emoji stock to leave something appropriate at the end of that sentence, but I couldn’t find one that seemed right.
I think number two is very beautiful. I can just picture frost crystals on the end of tiny hairs catching the sun and reflecting beautifully.
Tiny poems are fun. I hope you keep writing them.
As @dbooster said, Yeah, another convert.
I'm a short poem, including haiku, writer from way back. I almost had three published. The three had been accepted to a publication of short poems, called Hummingbird, but the publisher/editor died before they saw print. That's as close as I ever got to being published.
I gotta dust off some older works. A lot of them were posted on steem/hive back in my early days on the chains, before I understood NO ONE would be reading them back then, no matter how good there were. It's cool that this community allows us to repost stuff.
The first haiku I posted went something like this:
in the beginning
I published my best poems
and no one noticed
Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I think your tiny poems have jump started my poem writing urges. It's been a while.
Wow! That’s quite the story. You could turn that into a dark humor poem about all the rejection letters that writers supposedly get and how yours trumps the all—the rejection letter from God/the Creator/the universe, or something like that.
I like the haiku you shared, and actually I wrote one last week with pretty much the same last line. I posted it on Threads a few days ago.
Today I shaved and
removed the beard from my face
but no one noticed.
Keep the flow going. 😉
this morning my dog
went berserk at a passing deer
and everyone noticed
That one makes me laugh.🤣
After two poems about nobody noticing, to flip the conversation on its head with the line and everyone noticed, and that being something I’ve experienced and can totally relate to; that’s perfect.
I used to have a wild Border Collie that went crazy over deer.
Mine is an Australian Shepherd. She's not well at the moment, but when a deer goes by, you can't tell. She goes bonkers! Then she has to rest for a few hours.
I like all of them but I like #4 the best, it is deep.
the orchid? I can't believe it's blooming. All I did was put three ice cubes on it a week (or rather whenever I remembered) and it rebloomed!
They are always fun to pen and these have awakened something in my poet. I find them as such a beautiful way of expressing self...
Tempted to seal this comment with an emoji but all you have is a chuckle for it xD
haha that is one of the poems I left as a response to someone else's comment. He'd apologized for using an emoji, so I felt like making him feel better about using it.
That's a good tackle, haha.
I'm always in awe of people who aren't scared to say their thoughts as it is. It takes a certain level of.... experience to be able to manage that. I really liked number 6 a lot. I'm not sure why. Just spoke to me I guess.
And now I'm scared of leaving an emoji but I've decided to take my chances. So here, I !luv it.💞

I like that one myself. I left it as a response to a comment somewhere else on hive.
HaHa!
I recognize myself in this:
LOL
ha!
It makes me more appreciative of the occasional good poetry though, so there's that.
