A quick scribble in response to this week's prompt, behind the mask. Needs editing but seems fitting to post the rough first go for this.
Sea foam
Today I smile
and you want to know
what sits behind the smile
behind meaning underneath
meaning inside
meaning below
meaning submerged
meaning drowned
meaning seafloor
where the rocks go
after you throw them
where bubbles form
where they rise from
sometimes one thing
is many things
all at once
sometimes it just is what it is
bubbles rising
but it is hard to tell
whether the face is a face or a mask
mask meaning disguise
meaning barrier
meaning defence
meaning wall
meaning cage
meaning cave
meaning a dark place to live in
or a sheltered place to hide in
or light a camp fire
out of the wind
before the tide comes in
before the waves pull you out
before the water floats you up
a bubble
a series of bubbles
champagne
or sea foam
celebrating its release
today sea foam.
Many thoughts forming from the sea foam but none bore what the author had in mind, doing this poem.
Very nice poem I loved it, the image flows perfectly with this great writing, thanks for sharing ♥
Thanks for the encouragement!
