BlockchainPoets Weekly Prompt - The Mask

Hello again everyone.. it's time for another prompt. 😀

Last week's prompt is Darkness. If you didn't get a chance to write a piece for this prompt, feel free to have a go and give us some awesome poetry.

Now onto this week's business...

Your prompt is: The Mask

A covering for all or part of the face, worn to conceal one's identity.
A grotesque or humorous false face worn at a carnival, masquerade, etc.:

With cancel culture being all the rage as of late, a lot of people feel the need to wear a mask to conceal the true self, or to self censor. Putting on a mask, saves one the trouble of dealing with toxic people that believe that their opinions are the only ones that matter. God forbid that you have a differing opinion that goes against their "values".

Say one wrong word and you could be toast, only to be the next darling of social media... and find yourself cancelled. 😝

Others wear a mask to hide a part of themselves that they fear would see the light of day. Some may put on the mask to impress friends and family. Some people put on the mask just to mess with you to get a reaction, that they find funny often at your expense.

Some people don't bother to put on the mask, because they are too old to care anymore.

Or you could put on a mask at Mardi Gras... collecting those beads and having a blast. 😎
