should I go south?
should I go north?

"Plum Trees in Bloom" by Toyohara Chikanobu
What to do when all options are good? To the south they would be in full bloom, to the north just blooming. Which is best? Obviously, both and either. If only all problems were so easy!
The haiku scholar Blyth reminds us that in spring, there is a feeling of unlimited beauty: everywhere we look, nature is renewing herself, giving us unlimited things to enjoy looking at, smelling, experiencing. Is it any wonder that we feel younger in spring?

I always learn new things about Japan thanks to you, I really like your Haikus and you are right when you refer that spring takes away some years of life, greetings and thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoy them, Jose 😃

I thought haiku was 5,7,5 syllables. This doesn't seem to follow that🤔
Still, nice topic to write about and nice poem overall.
Really love the Japanese image too
Yes, and no. That is a big topic that I should write on one of these days.
Short answer is: the "syllables" of Japanese are not the same as the syllables of English, making (in my opinion) sticking to a 5/7/5 count far too long. But you will find both opinions. In both America and in Japan, at any rate, free-form haiku have become far more common than they once were.
Thanks for the clarification. I shall try to do more research on this topic and other forms of poetry too. Maybe even write a post about what I find.

This is wonderful. I also love these forms, Haiku, Tanka, etc. They pack so much in such short verses. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. Yes, they say so much in so few words.

Very wonderful evocative imagery in this simple poem. It's like a kid in a candy store, he/she doesn't know which way to look because there are wonders everywhere. A wonderful state of indecision.
That's a great way to put it!
