I lost all of last night to a migraine headache. One that is still with me. There is no sleeping when you have a migraine. At best you nod off for a few minutes after finding a position that actually dulls the pain a little, but it's not restful and when you come awake the pain is there waiting, even worse than before.

The worst part about a migraine is there is no relief. Just as you think you've found a position that allows you to escape the tremendous pain and allow yourself a small bit of hope, exclaiming quietly "thank Christ, finally" the pain comes flooding back in.

After awhile frustration gets you and you start muttering things like "why won't it just stop hurting"

For most people, that is that. It takes a special breed of weirdo, the haiku poet, to then write down a poem trying to capture that frustration. I guess we could extend that and say it takes an even more special breed of weirdo, the Hive blogger, to then write it all up in a post even when it's not finished yet.

Now if you'll excuse me... my head still feels like it may explode so I am going to go collapse.

Hi there! David is an American teacher and translator lost in Japan, trying to capture the beauty of this country one photo at a time and searching for the perfect haiku. He blogs here and at laspina.org. Write him on Bluesky.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better.

Sorry big man! It's good you manage to write. Take some rest.

I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I'm lucky that I don't believe I have ever had a migraine. I've heard how debilitating they can be.

That is something that I've never had in my life, except for once... I had the "aura" thing before, and then a huge pain right in back part of my eyes... Sticking, pungent, and so strong that transform me in creature that asks the Gods to be free from it.
Luckily, never had another in my life.
Do you suffer for frequent migraines? Get well soon, David.

I'm sorry for your pain. The haiku was very simple, but I felt your pain through it. I hope your pain disappears soon. I wish you could receive powerful acupuncture that could stop your migraine immediately!
