but you didn't know how to call yourself the same?
the belief that you are enough
as you are
as you wish to be
as you choose to be
that your laughter is like gold
that your hugs are like home
and that your undivided love is about all I ever wanted.
Who would you become if you could feel the power that is there waiting for you to wield?
How different would you life look if you could give yourself even a small amount of the love you give us?
that you--before your days here are done--
realise how loveable you really are,
how loveable you've always been
and always will be.
This post was my attempt at poetry (or rather prose since I wasn't in the mood to make anything have rhythm or rhyme!). It was based on the prompt "Tell Mama" from this post in the Community "Blockchain Poets". If you like writing and rhyming and words you might like this group!
This was also my Day 2 of #HiveBloPoMo. Find more on that by using the hashtag just mentioned.
This is nicely written.
I must say, being a mother has many transformative meanings; it does not have a single meaning.
Mothers change their lives, learn new skills, develop patience, and constantly wonder if they've done enough.
Being a mother means that life happens within you, "quickens," and then passes you by.
Have a wonderful day, @consciouscat .
❤️
Prose!
Real mother's don't know how much power they have they just keep giving love instead.

This is too good to be called not in the mood. I wonder what will happen the day you will be in the mood. I love this. I will definitely be sticking around for more read from you. Thanks a lot for such lovely mama text
Thanks for your kind words, @martinlazizi 🙏
I categorize prose as something with a directional plot. Poetry is a collection of thoughts, not always with rhyme or clear reason.
Whatever you want to call this, I love it. I wish I had the courage to say anything remotely close to this to my mother. I may think it and believe it, but words are often hard to cough out into conversation.
Aaaah, it sounds like you are far more knowledgeable about the technical aspects of writing than I am. Thank you.
I have tried to say such things to my mother before but she almost always rejects any kind thing I say to her. So instead I ponder them, send them silently or try sneaky, playful ways to slide kind, loving compliments into her head.
I shall have to see if I can create something one might call prose and something more rhythmic or rhyming in future posts. 😀
This is not prose; it is poetry. As @driptorchpress mentioned, poetry doesn't have to have rhyme. Just look at the man that many critics say is the best poet of the last century, T.S. Eliot; few of his best poems have rhyme and are in fact rather a collection of jumbled ideas that lead where ever he wants us to go. In fact, I'd say within modern published poetry, rhyme is the exception rather than the rule. Some may choose a meter to give something of a cadence to the piece (as verse), but others choose to entirely free style it.
Anyway, this is a great effort. Keep them coming!

Thanks, David. These words of encouragement (mixed with education 😉) are helpful and appreciated. Upon reflection then, I think I probably naturally want to write poetically most of the time. My favourite way of writing is highly creative and often, as you said:

We aren't currently muting people for not commenting, as we are trying to use more positive reinforcement to increase comments, so don't worry too much. That said, thank you for giving comments 😃
You can use #PIMP anywhere. The community accepts posts on all topics.
I like it. In my study of human behaviour I've found that fear is a useful way to control people but it does nothing for inspiring creativity and innovation.
Welcome! Happy to play by the rules... when I remember to read the rules for new communities that I join 😂
Got it! Arigato!
