The drift of sun
like summer sleep warm
circle of grass the wind
flutters a curl of sandy
tress that downiest hook
I remember
her quiet and ecstatic
yes and how my hands
roamed her
a dark tangled
wild my bird heart
swooped the fact of her
For once in this life
my raptor heart screamed its joy.
The passion now
like city light scattered
on a midnight river I
found the sun within
her freckled face
You sure can write a love poem! Holy cow, I love how you mix words up and somehow a clear meaning takes shape. This is really beautiful. I love how it resolves in such a simple, evocative statement. I love this.
Thank you, @owasco. I'm always happy when you read one of my stories or poems. I haven't quite worked out what I'm doing with the broken syntax. Here it works because it reflects who Katt was, to an extent. But I've played with it in several poems now. I think, maybe, it's an attempt to break away from logic and just get at the feeling. Thanks again for reading. :)
It works beautifully for me. I don't know what happened, but I do know a feeling very well. You pack a lot into a very few words. You write poems (and stories) that leave me with time to think about them.
