Look At Me

Look, look at me for a second.
Can you see my life through these eyes?
Go deeper. Yes, there.
Have you seen it?

Look more closely.
What can you see?
What kind of thoughts run into your mind when you see me?
Come here, come closer.

Do I scare you? Good.
Does my face frighten you? Delightful.
The nightmares you told me before, can you see it in me?
Have my touch burned you?

Yes, I'm looking.
What do you want from me?
There is no life in your eyes.
Your pupils are of the sky but is truly just like an abandoned house.
A deserted place, a wretched place.
All in complete desolation.
There is no life in you.

Stop it. I don't want to be near you.
You're dangerous. Too dangerous to be living in this head.
YOU SHOULD'VE NEVER BEEN BORN!!!
You should've not breathe your first breath.
You sick, psychotic monster!

Yes! You scare me! Now get away from me!
Can't you see I'm struggling?
Can't you see I'm hurting?
Those nightmares were you.
You is nightmare herself.
If you touch me, my body will turn to ash.

Now please, I beg of you, spare me from this terror.
You and your wretched disposition.
You who is in that mirror.
You who is my reflection.

Hello everyone this is my first entry for BlockchainPoets Weekly Prompt - Photo Prompt 2. Hope you all like my poem :) Have a nice day!

Sort:

What an intense poem that conveys the struggle and pain of coming to terms with one's reflection. I think the speaker tries to understand the purpose of the reflection. Out of desperation, the speaker wants the reflection to stay away because its a reminder of who we are, a picture that is unpleasant to the speaker. This is deep! Thanks for sharing. !PIZZA 🙂

Thank you for your wonderful remark :) I based this mostly of me and the bad side of me 😅
