Write a write a haibun.
A haibun is a traditional Japanese literary form that combines prose, which typically describes a scene, moment, or journey in a vivid, objective way, followed by a haiku. The haiku provides a subtle insight, shift, or reflection on the prose that deepens the overall effect.
The road ahead twists and turns, the darkness engulfs light and life, with the sound of the wind howling, into the void the shadows leap from the light, all the while the cold grips hard onto the chest and face as you race through.
Morning light
In the distanse the eyes feast
Glad to arrive safely
Feeling I'll at ease with no respite from the internal beating brought on by my uneasiness of losing you for something over thought a million times inside the head of both of us.
Never say never
Time passes slowly get depressed
Avoidance is key

Your verses powerfully capture the contrast between the external storm and the mental noise. The relief of the morning light clashes with the anguish of overthinking and the fear of loss. It is a raw portrait of how, sometimes, arriving safely does not stop the emotional emptiness. You manage to capture that unease where time weighs heavily and avoidance becomes a refuge.
Thank you for your feedback, this type of poetry is new to me, in that I'm aware of prose and haiku as individual styles but combination i never thought of.
Very fun to do.
This poem reads like a journey through anxiety into relief. And I especially like the haiku moments because it acts as pauses for breath.
This poem beautifully shows how fear, waiting, and hope all coexist on the same road.
Thanks for sharing and have a restful night.
