La bicicleta te lleva por caminos tan inesperados que a veces cuando lo cuentas, no te lo creen. Ya el hecho de levantarte a las 3 de la mañana para hacerte unos huevos revueltos con tostadas, para luego a las 4 salir en puntita de pies, con las luces prendidas y todos los sentidos atentos, es una experiencia extraordinaria. Datos del entrenador: visitar desde ezeiza, en bicicleta, la laguna de Lobos, situada distante 85 km de Ezeiza. En esta ocasión el terreno sería ruta y entre ida y vuelta tenemos aproximadamente 170 km de entrenamientos, con una parada técnica en el camino y más de 6 horas sentados pedaleando bajo el sol.

Cycling takes you down such unexpected paths that sometimes when you tell people about it, they don't believe you. Just getting up at 3 a.m. to make yourself some scrambled eggs and toast, then tiptoeing out at 4 a.m. with your lights on and all your senses alert, is an extraordinary experience. Coach's notes: visit Lobos Lagoon, located 85 km from Ezeiza, by bike from Ezeiza. On this occasion, the terrain would be a road, and between the round trip, we would have approximately 170 km of training, with a technical stop along the way and more than 6 hours sitting and pedaling under the sun.
En total quemamos más de 5000 calorías, pero en el camino nos encontramos con un puesto llamado "La brasilera". A la laguna llegamos aproximadamente a las 7 de la mañana y por obvias razones estaba todo cerrado. Saliendo de la ruta nos encontramos con este local, que en principio dudábamos que nos iba a atender. La pasividad al llegar al lugar se hizo notar. Música de fondo brasilera por supuesto y una morocha con tan buena onda diciéndonos, chicos bienvenidos a Lobos. En forma de chiste Alejandro le dice, si me das a elegir me gustaría un sándwich de crudo con una cerveza, pero me conformaría con un café con leche y medianas. A lo que la señora le responde, "lo que quieras".

In total, we burned more than 5,000 calories, but along the way we came across a place called "La brasilera." We arrived at the lagoon at around 7 a.m. and, for obvious reasons, everything was closed. Leaving the road, we came across this place, which at first we doubted would serve us. The passivity upon arriving at the place was noticeable. Brazilian music was playing in the background, of course, and a friendly brunette welcomed us to Lobos. Inmediatamente la señora le dice, pero no te voy a hacer de crudo si no te voy a dar una bondiola para que lo puedan disfrutar. La bondiola es un fiambre embutido de cerdo, que se elabora con el corte del cuello y se cura con sal especies como puede ser pimienta nuez moscada y demás. Pero el tema aquí es que a esta bondiola lo prepara la señora brasilera. Los chicos sin dudarlos le dijeron por supuesto que queremos probar su bondiola y acompáñenos con pan casero que se veía a la vista. El tema estuvo con la hidratación, ya que el entrenador prohíbe tomar alcohol cuando andamos rogando en la ruta, pero en esta ocasión no pudo decir que no a un par de latas de cerveza.

Bondiola is a pork cold cut made from the neck of the pig and cured with salt and spices such as pepper, nutmeg, and others. The issue was hydration, since the coach forbids drinking alcohol when we're begging on the road, but on this occasion he couldn't say no to a couple of cans of beer.

Por un momento vi un cartel que decía tortas fritas, churros y pastelitos. Créanme que ganas no me faltó, pero aguanté la tentación y lo dejé para otra ocasión. Un lugar realmente tranquilo, donde puedes pasar a comer, armar la carpa en caso de que lo tengas, descansar un rato para luego seguir camino. La amabilidad en la atención al cliente está en primera instancia y eso hace a que estos lugares te den ganas de volver. No importa el precio que pagues, porque nunca superará al momento que vives.

For a moment, I saw a sign that said fried cakes, churros, and pastries. Believe me, I really wanted to try them, but I resisted the temptation and left it for another time. It's a really quiet place where you can stop to eat, set up your tent if you have one, rest for a while, and then continue on your way. Friendly customer service is a top priority, and that makes you want to come back to places like this. It doesn't matter how much you pay, because it will never exceed the experience you have.
A esta altura estábamos a mitad de camino y el entrenamiento específico venía muy bien. Es por eso que disfrutábamos el momento de comer, pero sin relajarnos ni sobrepasarnos, porque sabíamos que debíamos volver. Sumado a eso, teníamos viento en contra para la vuelta. Entre dimes y diretes, terminó el pseudo desayuno y nos dispusimos a cargar con agua las caramañolas y proseguir nuestro desafío ciclístico.

At this point, we were halfway there, and the specific training was paying off. That's why we enjoyed our meal, but without relaxing or overdoing it, because we knew we had to return. Hoy estuve con mis amigos, con los cuales el silencio estuvo ausente, debido a nuestro murmullo. Pero imagínense viajar solo, parar en un lugar como este, y desayunar con el simple sonido del ambiente. Pajaritos, perros, gatos, algunas aves que caminan por ahí y muchos pajaritos, en una sinfonía que da mucho placer contemplarla.

I thought about my dream of traveling around Argentina and the world by bicycle and all the places like this that I would find along the way. Today I was with my friends, and there was no silence because of our chatter. But imagine traveling alone, stopping at a place like this, and having breakfast with only the sounds of nature around you. Birds, dogs, cats, some birds walking around, and many little birds, in a symphony that is a pleasure to listen to.

La verdad es muy lindo andar en compañía y con buenos amigos. Pero también estimo que andar con uno mismo, es muy satisfactorio. Leí por ahí que primeramente hay que probar con salir tres o cuatro días a rodar solo. Depende de esas experiencias vas aumentando la cantidad de días, para luego largarte a experiencias semanales o mensuales recorriendo diferentes rincones de nuestro país. Dicen que no todo el mundo está preparado para andar solo y mucho menos para resolver aconteceres cotidianos que nunca están planeados. Estimo debe ser una gran experiencia y ojalá lo pueda cumplir.

The truth is that it's really nice to ride with good friends. But I also think that riding alone is very satisfying. I read somewhere that you should first try going out for three or four days on your own. Depending on those experiences, you can increase the number of days, and then embark on weekly or monthly adventures to different corners of our country. They say that not everyone is prepared to travel alone and that many people underestimate the ability to deal with everyday situations that are never planned. I think it must be a great experience.

Me puse a escribir y sin querer se me fue el tiempo. Es que uno cuando se pone a contar estas experiencias y a proyectar sueños a futuro, puede estar mucho tiempo realmente. La Argentina es un país maravilloso y me encantaría conocerlo de punta a punta. Siento que lo necesito.

I started writing and, without realizing it, time flew by. When you start recounting these experiences and projecting dreams for the future, you can really spend a lot of time doing so. Argentina is a wonderful country and I would love to explore it from end to end. I feel like I need to.

Honestamente, es un lindo proyecto para hacer, no solo en Argentina, sino lanzarse a recorrer el continente en busca de aventuras. A mi eso me encanta, y de hecho es mi plan de vida para dentro de unos 8 años, cuando mi hijo menor alcance la mayoría de edad, pero no en bicicleta (o quizás si, no puedo asegurarlo)
