I love my car. As a 2012, it’s getting a little old now (at least by my standards as a new car dealership employee). So walking out and seeing it flanked by a pair of Last Call widebody Chargers had me feeling some kind of way. Not only did it make my car look “old and slow”, it got me a little bummed that these high horsepower V8 cars will be going away. It’s not like I’m a bog American V8 lover, I’m really more of a JDM or Euro guy, but seeing these go away means an entire era of the automotive industry is going away. Who knows, maybe this will be like in the 70s/80s/90s where manufacturers were focusing on four and six cylinder engines, but into the 00s they started getting back into bigger, powerful engines. At least Jeep/Dodge/RAM is moving to twin-turbo inline six cylinder engines. It’s nust too bad we’re fourty years behind the Japanese market with that tech!

They must be super fun to drive 😍😎 Mind you, I reckon your VW is probably quite a beaut on the road herself. I drive a 2013 Nissan Qashqai. It's perfect for what I need - running 2 tweens around for school and sports mid-week, and family time on the weekend, but not so stable on the bends. I tend to drive my cars into the ground... gently of course, but pretty much drive them into old age or until some idiot decides to fender bender me, and then some other idiot at an insurance company decides to write them off because nobody can fix stuff these days or wants to! But I must be a new car salesman's worst nightmare cos I only buy second-hand. I just can't justify the outlay on four wheels straight out the box, not on my salary lol. Do you get to drive the Last Callsever? any chance you'll be able to get yourself one of the demo models when they get to end of line? Now, that would be sweet!! !PIMP

Yep, Last Call is the term for all these finally v8 models to be produced. I do quite like the way my Passat handles, even for a large car. Considering it's a bigger family style car (we can fit the five of us, including a baby sit, in it comfortably), it's got enough pep to feel like it can get out of its way when it needs to. Unfortunately, I've never driven any of the Last Call vehicles and they don't use those for demos :-(. If I didn't already know how much maintenance items were for these cars, I'd probably really want one. As a parts guy though, I get to see just how expensive brake parts and other things are. I'll just stick with my Passat at 1/5th the maintenance cost.
Ouch! Yes, they look pretty enough to hit the back pocket where it hurts haha. And sensible cars tend just to keep going so... I think we are stuck with the good ol' family car for now too :-)
