See...how Gabriel García Márquez read Kafka's Metamorphosis
García Márquez said when he read the first line of Kafka's novel "Metamorphosis": "I fell out of bed after reading the first line. I was amazed, and when I read this line I said to myself that I do not know anyone who can write things like this
So why did this direct editorial shock a writer of Marquez's stature?
The opening says: When Gregor Samsa woke from sleep one morning, after troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a giant insect!
How many people in this world in which we live wake up every day to find themselves helpless, unemployed, damaged, unable to adapt to people, unable to communicate or give, sick, a loser, or amnesiac, or... and... Maybe there is one or two near us...so how are their new conditions dealt with? How are their impairments or incapacities accepted? Or are they generally treated as beings that have lost the necessity of their continuation, the reason for their existence?!
