don’t amputate - touching story
Today, 5-year-old Sela sees her dad off at work.
When she sees him in the distance, she calls out “Daddy” and runs to him.
But she trips on a rock and falls, breaking her right leg.
When her dad sees her fall, he runs over to her in surprise.
He picks her up and rushes her to the hospital, where she is crying because of the pain in her leg.
The fracture developed into acute osteitis, and she underwent four surgeries at the National Hospital, but her condition did not improve.
The doctors said, “We have to amputate the leg because it's not improving anymore and it's getting worse.
Her father, Abeer, was working, but his heart was broken, and he was worried about his daughter Sela.
'What should I do, her condition is getting worse'
At this point, the foreman of the construction site asked to see him.
“Abeer, what is the condition of your daughter?”
“The doctors at the hospital say it's not getting better and we have to amputate it before it's too late. I'm desperate.”
"Abeer, please don't amputate your daughter's leg. Why don't you take your daughter and see her at Ajou University Hospital in Korea?
Our construction company and Ajou University Hospital have a business agreement, so I think they can treat her.”
“Director, is that true? ”
“Abeer, I'm making arrangements with the headquarters.”
“Thank you, Mr. Director.”
Abeer and his daughter, Sela, boarded a flight to South Korea and arrived at Ajou University Hospital.
Dr. Kookjin Kim, professor of pediatric and adolescent orthopedics, helped Sela undergo various tests.
Dr. Kookjin Kim said.
“Miss Sela has a fracture in her right leg that has progressed to osteomyelitis, which has caused severe bone loss, making it difficult for her to walk.”
“About half of her shin bone, excluding the growth plate, has been dissolved by bacteria.”
“The goal of treatment is to remove the dead bone and inflammation and restore the missing bone over the next three surgeries so that she can walk without amputation.”
Dad Abeer and daughter Sela saw hope, and following a careful treatment plan by the medical team, surgery was performed to remove the inflammation and dead bone and allow new bone to grow.
Once the bone had successfully formed as expected, a final bone graft was placed where the bones met in the defect.
Sela bravely endured three surgeries and worked hard to train herself to walk.
A week later, she was able to walk with crutches instead of a brace.
A few months later, she was able to walk without crutches.
When Sela was discharged from the hospital, she said she wanted to become a doctor to treat sick people.
Her father, Abeer, said.
“I was very worried about Sela coming here because she had four surgeries with poor results, but I am so happy as a father that she can walk like this.”
He added, “Thanks to the connection between the construction company and its employees, we received medical treatment that our family could not afford.
Sela was treated with the highest level of medical technology at Ajou University Hospital. I am truly grateful.”
Sela's treatment at the headquarters and Ajou University Hospital was completely free of charge.
Thanks to her father's good relationship, Sela was able to walk again without having her leg amputated.
Thank you for reading my post. ❤️
A touching story indeed. A tear or two trickled down my cheeks while reading this story. I hope Sela would become a doctor someday. !BBH !LOLZ !PIZZA

In health matters, it is becoming increasingly important to obtain a second opinion.
