One problem with GMOs is that some entity owns them.
Knew a guy down in Georgia that decided to plant GMO cotton seed that he had recovered the previous year. Whoever owns the patent sued him for several hundred thousand dollars and won.
Had he used heirloom cotton seed, there would have been no problem. Well, other than GMO cotton is glyphosate resistant and heirloom is not, but I digress...
It's definitely a problem.
I guess if they were open source there wouldn't be so much trouble.
