Again, laziness...

After 4 years of enjoying my LENOVO THINKPAD T490, it seems that the time has come to "retire" it. The SSD hard drive seems to have some problem that I don't quite understand, but apparently, its reading speed is worse than a conventional hard drive...
Also, all the software crap that they have forced us to use, TEAMS, ONEDRIVE, ZOOM and others, only increases the use of my laptop's resources for everything...
Today was the last straw, it kept connecting and disconnecting during meetings in the old Windows 95 fashion style...
So the time has come to think about a new one and that makes me extremely LAZY.
Just thinking that I have to migrate everything I have locally to another laptop makes me not get down to work and makes me feel insecure... in any case, it is something I have to do and I have to find some time to make the "bridge" from one laptop to the other... maybe I can spend a week living with both... but first I have to find the "new candidate" to keep me company for at least 4 more years.
I've heard good things about the THINKPAD T14...
do you think it's a good device for regular use (office tasks and some video and graphics) or am I short on resources?

It's the natural process of electronics now. All that bloatware makes things quite hard and they don't have as long as a shelf life as we would like it. We can't tell when they will fail, but I tend to think anywhere between 3-7 years it the norm for things. It depends on luck and I hope that your new laptop stays alive longer.

I use a HP EliteBook... I had an IBM Lenovo at some point. Probably the toughest laptop I ever had. I bet that one is still working today. Have you ever owned a MacBook?

Never, I am a windows guy 😂

Thus far I am the same... Maybe one day I will give it a try. I use an iPhone for a bit over a year and I have mixed feelings towards it...

I am an Iphone user since long, and I am very satisfied 😂

How often do you change it?

buufff, maybe every 5 or 6 years, last one was an iPhone13 and before I had iPhone7, iPhone5s...

Well, you don't use them much then. Mine is one year old and the battery health is already down 8% since it was new. It lasts one day easily, but I feel like if they put a bigger battery these phones wrapped in a proper case would be tanks.

I once used a Lenovo pc but I didn't really enjoyed the experience. Hp anytime and anyday

If you change the hard drive and install a new one, it will be fine. You can also use the hard disk of another laptop. A hard disk is durable for a long time but in your case it is not. good luck

it's not really a lot 4 years tough...

it would be ok if you do just office work, but for video editing and such i think you are short on graphic card... i had an HP and it lasted like 7 years, at work we use lenovo and they are OKish
