Reality? | A 5-Minute Freewrite | Prompt: Blond Curls

in Freewriters4 years ago

This is my five minute freewrite, which was inspired by this prompt by @mariannewest.

Kate looked into the mirror in her bedroom and saw that her reflection had disappeared. Not again, she thought desperatly. No no no.... She reached up and touched the glass, which felt warm underneath her touch. Of course it did.
Right, and now the mirror changes.... And indeed, the mirror morphed into a sleek Corvette with glossy red paint. The wall the mirror had been on rolled up like a garage door, revealing a smooth drive way leading off into the city, illuminated by the orange sunset. "I'm not going to do this!" Kate yelled into the approaching twilight. She knew what was going to happen next; the would ride into the city, get pressed into a street race, then get chased into a parking garage then the brakes would give away and she'd fall.
Kate sat on a tire in the garage, waiting for the inevitable. The police would arrive and taze her till she was unconcious. It was better than falling ten stories and hitting the ground. As many times as this had happened, she wouldn't give in. All the possibilities lead to either falling or being tazed, and she would not do it. Then she heard the sirens and grimaced. And now the Corvette was calling her name. Kate... Kate... KATE!
She jumped up suddenly, everything blurry. "Kate, honey, you fell asleep with the TV on again. How late were you up?" Kate wiped her eyes and saw her mother looking down at her. "Uh... I don't know...." But she wasn't fooled. It had felt so real.
Her mom just smiled. A little too long.
