More like a red fox than shiba inus | 5 minutes freewrite prompt

I have been looking at 5 minutes writing prompts and wanted to give a few shots at writing them. Being quite busy nowadays, and despite such interesting topics, I could not clear my thoughts for a good short writing experience.

But today is the day. The topic "red fox" immediately caught my attention. I am an animal lover, I own many cats and dogs of different breeds. I had been idle thinking about red foxes in recent years, though I have never seen one. So this would be a great opportunity to recall what I have been thinking. I would like to thank @mariannewest for the prompt before getting into it.

My friends and I like to compare ourselves to animals

My friends often told me that although I am a fan of both dogs and cats, my personality resembles cats more. I agree, and when I think about fiction concepts for my novel, I often think of feline character traits or even powers. Maybe my lack of social skills and shyness in social gatherings made my friends agree that I am more of a cat. Some of my close friends would also tell me I am a fox because they know my eating habit at night.

At one time, Shiba Inu dogs became hot topics for chitchatting among groups of my friends. I find the breed super cute and always thought to pet one of them once or twice. The nature of pet talks between my friends would include comparing each of them to cat and dog breeds. My friends tried to find who resembled the Shiba Inu the most. Some of them desperately tried to claim their resemblance, and others, including me, denied the comparison.

"Whatever, you can compare me to any dog breeds because I like hooman", a girl in my group said.

"I am humble like one though," a boy said while others denied and roasted him.

"Shiba Inus are too approachable and friendly compared to me," I said

"You look like one though. Harmless and small, but you're unpredictable unlike the Shiba Inus LOL," one friend said while others nodded with laughter.

"Okay, no. I like red foxes better. Look like Shiba Inus, active at night, weird diet, hard to see in the open, and good hearing, I always hear your fingers tapping Belle's (my friend's crush) chat screen."

The chat continued with everybody agreeing and that friend's denying words, not about my red fox resemblance, but his crush on Belle.
