THE STORM

Up above the world, I linger

Going where the winds may blow

Past the sea and through the valley

This way, that way, to and fro

Biding time and building tension

Half asleep and half awake

Anxious for my quick descension

Waiting for the dam to break

By myself I’m ineffective

Just a lonesome drop of rain

Falling from the sky so helpless

Like a broken aeroplane

Plummeting towards the planet

One drop is a paucity

Soaring swiftly to the surface

Terminal velocity

But together we’re ferocious

Such a mighty hurricane

Blot the sun out with our tempest

Drenched in rage we can’t contain

Mother Nature’s wrath and fury

You cannot hide from the sky

All your secrets are revealed

In the lightning of our eye

Once our anger has subsided

We begin to dissipate

We’ll just hang around in puddles

Waiting to evaporate

Soon we’ll rise back to the heavens

Gathering our strength once more

When the clouds begin to gather

We’re preparing for a war
