I believe every teenager in their young days is made different types of mistakes, horrible mistakes. And I am not an exception. So, today I want to share some story with you about my first horrible job experience.
On one side I don't want to share this story it is because I am ashamed that I get into that but on another side, we need to learn from our mistakes, and I don't want to anyone else gets into this situation like me. And I can say for sure I get my lesson for my all life.
So that's happened a couple of years ago. I studied at Riga university as an online marketing specialist and new company consultant in marketing. Of course, at that moment I can't afford to rent my own apartment, so I live in university dormitories but also that was pretty expensive for me. Yes, of course, my parents support me with all expenses I had but I'm, not that person my parents all life are do anything for me I simply can not ask more of them. So I decided to look at some job advertisements. I need to study so, of course, I can not work a full-time job but only part-time jobs and for my luck or in my case, not my luck I found one job.
They're not much information in an advertisement about the job but how I understand it's something like work in a call center and answer to questions. And there starts some strange things it's not only do I need to work with the phone but also video chat. And then I start to think why someone needs to see me in video chat if I only answer questions? But of course, when I see I can earn from a couple hundred to a thousand or more I don't think about anything anymore. (My biggest mistake.) I accept that job.
So after a couple of days, I am young and stupid (these words young and stupid I believe you read in this post a lot of times) and I went to address where my new job was supposed to be. I'm here the apartment building is pretty nice but it does not look like there is some call center. It's more like a usual apartment building. I continue and get inside. Then suddenly from nowhere some women appear and started to talk to me. It appears he is boss in here. From the start conversation, it's nice but after it starts to get suspicious. It seems I need to video chat with bored
people from other countries.
Wait what I from start think I need to answer to questions?
But I'm young and stupid and don't understand what's going on here. So he brought me to one room and say for every worker we have a different room (It's not at all sound suspicious right)? So I am in a room by myself there is a sofa table and computer with a webcam (yes normal job office nothing suspicious 😂)
If I think about that now I can not understand why I do not go away from that place immediately? But let's continue.
I sit down and login into a video chat with the given username and password. So I was told that video chat was supposed to work like that I chat with different people at the same time but I only earn money when someone takes me in private chat. For every one minute in private chat, I earn 2 EUR. (I believe at this point you understand about what type of chat things going around but I'm still young and stupid to understand that). After some time in chat, no one wants to go into a private chat all they want is to see more and then they go in private. But I am not that person who does something like that for money. (Only then I realized what going on here.)
I'm so angry with myself I accepted this and get involved in some kind of pornographic industry.
I call that woman who is supposed to be my boss or something like that and say I can't work that I'm, not a person like that who does something like that for money. But it seems he can see every worker on his pc and he still tries to persuade me: You do a good job you don't need to show anything to anyone. You can lie a little bit say you show something if he goes on private chat. After that try to keep him in private as long as possible.
But I am also not a liar I can't do that. And with that my first job ended on the same day I start to work. There are also some details I do not include in this story and I want to keep it to myself but this is my first experience with job advertising and with this, I want to say be careful, don't agree to anything ho seems too good to be true.
Thanks for reading to the next time. 😉
