RE: Freedom, Censorship, & You: The Ultimate Guide (Emma's Dilemma) Pt. 2

Possibly a further misunderstanding?

This post isn't two people talking with flawless logic like a computer, this is two fictional characters echoing the thoughts, concerns, and attitudes of many in society in a relatable way.

The relatable concept being voiced here is the fairly universal understanding that anonymity has side-effects, one of those being the common tendency for many people to turn up their aggression when veiled in anonymity.

I hope that adds clarity, and thanks for commenting. 🙂

blaming "anonymity" for "aggression" is missing the point.

I blamed nothing, and there still seems to be some misunderstanding. This will be my last attempt to clarify intention and message on this point, hopefully I do a good enough job.

I had my character echo a common concern, then pointed out the historically accurate observation that anonymity tends to result in dehumanization, distance from one another, and more aggressive forms of communication.

This is a factor in why people type less-than-pleasant things from behind a screen that they wouldn't dream of saying to another human being face to face.

If you need further clarification on this phenomenon, there are many sources providing data about it.

Hope this helps! :)

the antidote to "aggressive communication" is the simple rule, "NO AD HOMINEM ATTACKS"
