A Friend from Hell! - Freewrite Writing Prompt.

Tell me I'm not the only one who left a friend that once used to be a very best friend.

Okay, storytime.

.

She was my high school friend. We had a very good relationship until a boy came into my life. It was nothing serious but a high school thing; like talking on the phone at night, hanging out after school, etc. I never guessed my friend was jealous and stole the boy's number from my phone.

Later, she called the boy and that stupid boy built a friendship with her, behind my knowledge. When I got to know this from another friend of mine; I didn't say anything to my friend but ended the relationship with the boy.

I felt betrayed but never dared to confront my friend and lose her for this reason. We had a friendship after that, as usual for many years. But she was always like this; jealous, used to trigger me with words, over-criticized me, etc. Slowly, a few years back, I couldn't help but end our relationship.

It was not anything official; I didn't say anything but just stopped responding to her because she was asking very personal questions that she knew would trigger me. Her old way was to make me feel inferior!

I came to realize she was only hurting me, had always been a bitter one in my path to growth, and didn't help me with anything in all these years. It's better not to have someone that toxic about me around but to end the friendship.

And I'm doing fine without her, there's no space in my heart (which I thought would be) for her, and I moved on in my life.

I could write some crazy story about her but my 5 minutes is over. I hope you didn't have to go through any of this in your life. But if you did and choose to leave the friend from hell, then know that you did the right thing.

Choose yourself no matter what, no matter what society and others tell you about; remember you come first.
