Well, here we are, closing in on November, and I'm still swamped for time, still barely here.
Work has been a huge focus lately, and I keep being plopped onto different high-priority development projects which is a wonderful problem to have, honestly. I spent my first year as an official developer basically playing whack-a-mole with Ops tasks, squashing one-off bugs that were affecting customers. So, being moved to sprint work and actual projects has been quite rewarding, but it leaves me mentally drained.
The eldest is in U9 hockey now too and the season has been go-go-go from the very beginning. His first hockey game is actually tonight, so hopefully the kids have a great time and try their hardest. I'm looking forward to it!
Our 4yo and 1yo are about to return to daycare in December as well here, so that's been a lot to get ready for. The 4yo has mixed emotions - she's excited to play with the kids and see her old daycare lady, but she also very reasonably doesn't want to go because it's a lot of fun at home with mom and dad (even if I'm working during 99% of the day). My wife took 18 months for the youngest, so it's made for an extra-long maternity leave which the kids (and us parents) have all loved... but capitalism's gonna capitalism, and we can't yet afford to exist on just my income so my wife is back to work in January and we'd like the girls to be adjusted to daycare by then. It's all very not-ideal, but we do what we have to, eh?
On the HIVE front, as I mentioned at the start - I've barely been around. I'm (somewhat, and inconsistently) keeping up with @worldbuilder prompts for writing/worldbuilding, but it's second to the rest of the real-life stuff we've got going on.
I did notice that our price tanked over the last few days, which for me is fabulous. I've been stashing away HBD as I've gained it over the last year or more, promising myself that if we ever hit 10c again I'd ape in with my savings. We briefly hit 10c the other day, and I managed to snag about 2,000 Hive from the internal market. I took the rest of my 1200 HBD savings and began a Conversion today so here's hoping that the average stays around 10-11c for a few more days as it'll put me sitting on a pretty nice chunk of HP.
Naturally, I've powered up the HIVE I just snagged because I'm just way too impatient to wait for HPUD.

This puts me at 7,429 HP, which means through pure luck I've managed to crush the 'pie in the sky' goal I set for myself in January. Partly this is also thanks to LEO's changes to their tokenomics which I mentioned in an old yearly goal reflection post. Between these two events, even with being extremely hands-off this year, I've somehow put myself nearly past what my all-time-high HP value was. If this conversion goes through half-decently, it will mean that even after pulling out and powering down in 2024, I'll be heading into 2026 with more HP than I've ever had in the 6 years I've been here... and that's pretty fabulous. I really miss my larger votes, and reaching the 10k mark again is/will be a huge milestone for me.
Nice power up! Wish I had waited a bit more with my hbd conversions but then again I never saved much hbd to begin with :D
I was hurting having to invest so much into zing when hive was 20-25c, but in hindsight now it was a better time then than now, so hopefully we see hive go back to 40-50c in the near future so I can DCA more into that investment before I consider switching some hive back into hbd at higher prices.
Heck yeah! Definitely a better time, even if it hurt at the time. I keep meaning to dive into Zing a bit but I've got so many things in the ol' backlog that at this point it'll be next year before I get to take a real look. I'm definitely hoping for a return to 40c as that'll let me re-fund the HDB savings pretty easily and then it's just a waiting game for the next time I can do the ol' switcharoo lol.
Congratulations @oblivioncubed!
You raised your level and are now a Dolphin!
