I'm better than….

Or maybe I'm worse than…, I want to be as good as… and many different options. What do they all have in common?

Comparison.

We have all heard the saying that all problems start with comparisons. Is that really the case?

Yes, when looking at the situation in our society, it is unfortunately clear that one large proportion of people more or less consciously compare themselves to others. I think even people read the yellow press just to get an estimate of their lives for a bigger or smaller celebrity. The moment you read that a "celebrity" has some problems, it seems that your life itself is not so bad.

Goals are also very often set because someone else has already achieved something similar or someone else believes that “this is what any normal person (stylish or modern or tidy, etc.) should do.

In my opinion, such instructive articles, the top of “necessary things or values,” are published to get people not to think for themselves. There are also fans who, without thinking at all, blindly copy the intelligent (and not so much) actions of their idol. But this story is not about thinking or not thinking. This time I write an article about the comparison.

Often from people I hear the story that he is not good enough in any area of life because, seeing others have already achieved this and that, but he still has nothing. This is also the beginning of the greatest misfortune of mankind - they don't love themselves.

Do you know what I always answer in such situations? I am always willing to bet that I will find at least 3 people who are worse than you in this field or 3 people who are better than you in this field. So I think it makes no sense to compare yourself to others because there will always be someone who can do the same thing either better or worse. So what to do? I think a comparison is needed. However, not with others, but with yourself.

I have created the following picture in my imagination: I stand on an endless staircase that leads from the bottom up. Living consciously, capturing every situation in life that can teach me something, in every situation I imagine that if I solve this situation, I will go one step higher. On the other hand, if I choose to ignore this situation, and give up the opportunity to learn, I go down one step. And that means that in order to get to where I had the opportunity to climb (but I won't climb), I will now have to climb 2 steps - one to get to where I was before and the other to get to where I could be. if he had accepted this situation and learned. The rest is already pure physics and mathematics. The higher you climb, the wider the view, and the more a person can see around them and learn new things and places.

And going back to the comparison - the way I do it - I compare myself today to myself yesterday. Am I better than myself today? Have I climbed the stairs?

And I don't care how high others are. It is important for me to be honest with myself and compete only with myself. That's why we meet like-minded people around us because people have walked about as far up our stairs as we have.

Don't settle for a view of the puddles in the yard through the small window in the basement, because on the 125th floor you can already see the whole city!
