I Dream Of Being a Tiger
I dream of being a tiger and ruling the land,
chasing the cr
eatures that think they’re stars,
tricking the lizards who pretend to swim fast,
and climbing the highest tree just to nap on its crown.
Those who call themselves my relatives have nothing to offer.
I am the fastest of all,
the cutest of the bunch.
But my captors won’t let me be.
She always wants a picture
for that awful machines attached to her bony hand.
If I play along, I admit I like it.
She gives me treats and lets me sleep on the highest throne in the house.
