This is my post for #freewriters 2943 prompt losing control hosted by @mariannewest

Today my sister took her granddaughters to visit their Dad, so we did not fish. I made more rigs, changed all the hooks from 2/0 to 3/0, and worked on the reels.

After losing the second fish yesterday, I wanted to change the hook size, but I did not have any on the boat. I had to clean the reels because we lost a nice pompano because I did not check the drag, it was frozen to where no line would come out, and the fish broke the line.

My sister has been saying one of the reels is sticking when reeling. I have 2 rods with reels that are identical, so I had a fifty/fifty chance of getting it right, I got it wrong. After taking the good reel off and putting another one on the rod, I found out it was the wrong rod. I had to take the new one off and put the old one back on.

The reel that needed to be changed was held on by a clamp. By now, I feel like I am losing control, and my hand is hurting. Yesterday, something weird happened with it. I was trying to change a hook, and my hand hurt, I could not even move my fingers. It was like a pinched nerve, where you yell out at any movement. It was like that for just a few minutes and has not done it since then, but I feel pain in it typing.

I, too, am good at making extra work for myself. Glad you were able to get the reel taken care of, though. I'm sorry about your hand! That has to be hard to live with.

I manage with it, I would have surgery but the way I see it, I can still do most things, after surgery it will be many months of doing nothing.

I can see your dilemma! It would be hard to do nothing for a long time, yet, if the surgery was truly helpful, it might be worth it. After all, you could be using those hands for another 20 years.

It is a I just don't want to do it kind of thing.
