This is my post for #freewriters 2610 prompt injection of joy hosted by @mariannewest

I have been on medicine for back pain since 1997, which means I have been taking it for 28 years, I will be 67 years old this year so I have been on this medicine for close to half of my life and it does not work as it did several years ago so I started experimenting with CBD products to find something to help so I do not have to go to stronger pain meds.

I have been taking CBD oil, which helps with sleep and I eat half of an edible gummy once a day. The gummy helps when it "kicks in" but the wait can be long so I have to figure out when I will need it and take it a couple of hours before doing a task.

I talked to my doctor about the edibles, he was shocked I could buy them in a store. He looked at the bottle and saw THC written on it and said, oh, you're getting high. I told him whatever it was, it helped me feel not so tight. I always feel like my muscles are as tight as a board, it helps me feel loose, gives me energy, and gives me an appetite.

He told me to stop taking it 7 days before seeing him the next time because I would be drug tested. I do not understand his problem with THC when he has no problem prescribing Fentynal and Percocet for this long, to me these are worse on my body, and the reason I do not want to go to stronger meds and I would love to get off of it completely, but the pain won't let me.

My sister wanted to try hemp flowers. So for her birthday, I surprised her with a bag that I bought from @rushhempfarms, one of my sons is a friend of the owner and I trust his products. It comes with a note stating that it is a legal product.

She rolled a hemp flower joint, and I took a puff. I instantly had an injection of joy, my entire body felt loose. This was more like a "high", this feeling did not last long but the loose feeling lasted for a couple of hours. My sister did not care for it. She likes the other, so she kept a little for herself and gave the rest to me.

I put a little in a small pipe and take a couple of puffs when I feel extra tight. I take a couple of puffs 3 times a day. This is what I have been looking for, that extra thing that will keep me from going on stronger pain meds. Now I am wondering if my doctor will have a problem with it, he is 100% against smoking pot, but this is not pot, and I wonder if he knows the difference. Even if I had another doctor prescribe for me to take it, he says NO he will not give me the pain meds.

So I did a little Googling on Hemp flower and edibles. I wrote: which has more THC, hemp flower or edibles into Google and this is what it said.
Edibles generally have more THC than hemp flower because, by legal definition, hemp flower must contain less than 0.3% THC, while edibles can be made with higher concentrations of THC depending on the product and regulations in the region; meaning even a small edible could contain more THC than a large amount of hemp flower. So this says I get less THC so why do I get this "high" feeling with it and not the gummies? https://www.google.com/search?q=which+has+more+thc%2C+hemp+flower+or+edibles&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS914US914&oq=which+has+more+thc%2C+hemp+flower+or+edibles&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIHCAUQIRigATIHCAYQIRiPAtIBCjE5Mzc0ajBqMTWoAgiwAgE&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

In moderate users who consume CBD 4-5 times per week, THC is detectable for 5-7 days after use. In frequent users who consume CBD daily, THC is detectable for 10-15 days after use. In chronic users who consume CBD multiple times per day, THC is detectable for 30+ days after use.

Now I am wondering what my doctor is going to say. If he thought I was getting high from the gummies, he should be happy that I am getting less THC or will he see no difference? Will I pass the drug test? I plan on stopping it on the 11th, my appointment is on the 23rd. I do not know if I would be considered a frequent user or a chronic user since I take it everyday, but doubt I am a chronic user because of the small amount I take each time. I guess I will find out.

We're long overdue to end the "war on drugs," especially marijuana. People who do not experience chronic pain and other health issues have no idea what it is like, or how little people need to find relief. I recently ran across an old episode of the Bad Roman podcast in my backlog of stuff to be listened to eventually on this very topic.

Marijuana should not be in the same category as other drugs, it should be the same as alcohol. I am listening to the podcast.
My doctor is the type of person who would call it the devil's lettuce. I hope I can change his mind.

I agree.
It has been on the ballot for the last two years, but it has to get 60% of the votes, this year it got 57. Our governor is not going to let it pass, he said if it did, he would stop it. I am not sure how he will do it but don't doubt him. Pot is the only thing that needed 60% all others are 50% of the vote.
