This is my post for #freewriters 2595 prompt don’t amputate hosted by @mariannewest

A few years ago I came across a turtle that was having trouble going down. At first, I did not pay it much mind because I have seen many with this condition, but as I got closer I could see something next to it. There was rope wrapped around one flipper and the other end was PVC pipe. The rope had been wrapped so long that the turtle's flipper was rotted almost all the way off, I had to amputate it. I called a number I carry from the rescue people and they came and got it.

This is an alligator snapping turtle, if it latches onto you, you will be screaming amputate it. The old saying is, They don't let go until it thunders. This one was mad and would bite if given the chance.

We had to get him out of our yard before the dogs got bit, I do not know how we would have handled that situation.

A stingray's stick will hurt like nothing you have ever experienced. The hole they leave will rot, this is normal for a stick from one. Today's doctors do not know this is normal and want to amputate. Coolidge Judah got stuck many times, one time it hit an artery, when he got back to the fish house and medics were waiting, they had him take the pressure off, and blood shot across the fish house. After a few weeks, it looked bad and rotting, the Dr wanted to amputate his leg. Luckily old Doc Kelso was still living and Coolidge called him to look at it. Doc told Coolidge, yep it's a stingray stick and it is looking good, don't amputate, it is doing what it is supposed to do. When Coolidge passed, he still had both legs.

This is a stone crab at certain times a year we can take the big claw, I love to eat them but I can not amputate them and leave with one small claw to eat with, I don't amputate, I throw them back in the river.

Because you are so familiar with the sea and the animals there, you have a body of knowledge that is very important. And I don't know any of that!

But you know many things that I do not know anything about, like the time you made lard and you knew me adding tomato sauce to the zucchini so I could can it would make more tomato sauce not canned zucchini. One of the things that make Hive great is being able to share our knowledge.

You are absolutely right!
