This is my post for #freewriters 2534 prompt tiny tool hosted by @mariannewest

The above map is of the preserve that adjoins our property, if you look at the map and see the lake in the middle and see the line that goes through the lake you will see where I live. We have 2 acres against the preserve there is a big open space and we are to the left of it, the tiny L shape above the lake, the preserve runs down 2 sides of our property.

My husband decided he wanted to take the canoe to one of the lakes on the preserve. We went to a small lake that is on the far top right of the photo. It does not look like much on the map but it was a fairly big lake, it might be that big from all of the rain we have been getting.

The only bad thing about this plan was we had to pull the canoe way past the furthest set of trees to get to a place where we could put it in the water.

I did not think we would ever get through all of these plants

By the time we got here, I was tired of walking and pulling the canoe, I asked my husband why he could not pull it with his bike, he said his bike was not powerful enough. All it would take is some sort of tiny tool to hitch it to the bike and maybe another tiny tool to adjust his bike so it will have better pulling power or find a closer place to put it in the water.

Once we paddled out from shore far enough so people could not reach it, we dropped off the canoe wheels on top of some of the plants so we did not have to carry them in the canoe with us. It is a shame that you can no longer leave something like that on shore and it is there when you return.

Once we made it through all of the arrow weed plants we came to lilypads and what looked like green sticks, I am not sure what kind of plants there are.

The weeds cleared up once we got out into the main part of the lake, paddling around I kept watching and I never saw a fish, not even small minnows under the lilypads. I wondered if they spray it with something that kills the fish. Walking here I saw several places where they sprayed weed killer on elephant grass, maybe it leaks into this lake. It was odd.

We rowed quite a ways and my husband said, "See those tall palms, our truck is parked under them."

The cattails are thick here but if we could get through them, all we would have had to do is park the truck and pull the canoe for maybe 30 feet to the lake. We never knew it was there.

We had to row all of the way back to where we left the wheels and then pull the canoe out of the water, and then pull it all the way back to the truck when we were only feet away from it several minutes ago. I had to take a few breaks pulling it back, I also had to take several breaks pulling down there.
